I have been going to the Black Oak restaurant and it's predecessor, on and off, since the since the 60s. It was the first time I saw colored sugar crystals to add to your coffee or tea. I'd say maybe 3-5 times a year over a 20 year period. In all that time and with change of personal, I can only recall three mediocre experiences. We went this Thursday, kind of a special day, since we didn't have a doctors appointment, and once again it was a five star experience. We sit down and boom, menus and what would you like to drink? Out comes great coffee and a variety of creamers. A few minutes later we order. Our server, Lisa, was just terrific. Engaging, courteous, friendly and focused. We ordered the specials, couple of eggs, country fries, apple sausage links's and bacon, wheat toast and English muffin. I ❤️ me some Country Potatoes. Black Oak ranks in top 3 I've ever had. They mince green peppers a little celery and onions and cover it over the perfectly diced and fried potatoes. Heaven. Love the ambiance of this restaurant. Great gift shop for perusing, before of after you dine. Large comfortable booths. One last thing. Their menu is Killer. Breakfast and Lunch choices are varied. We have tried a number of different items and always feel we get delicious food for a fair price. Hope you give it a try and come away as pleased as my wife and I.
Delicious! Had the Rise N Shine with bacon. Amazing bacon! Great atmosphere (very festive) and courteous service. Fun place to shop for gifts, too, esp at Christmas time...
Great food and attentive staff. Delicious iced tea. Only drawback is slightly high prices, but the portion sizes are big so its worth it. Love this place!
I go with my wife to this lovely place many times a year! This is my favorite spot to eat. I go there frequently. The cooking is great, the staff is friendly and the payment is reasonable. I enjoy meeting in this restaurant to have a decent lunch.
Huge portions! Good food and great service! Had their sausage, biscuits and gravy. The gravy was really good! And the hash browns were perfect! Would definitely visit again.
The decoration is elegant, sentimental and connotative. The meals are very popular. One of the representatives of traditional America. I like the items very much.
Wonderful food and service. Martha was amazing! She even brought us to go iced tea and coffee without us asking. We will definitely be back.
Our family has been going to the Black Oak for 40 years and it never fails to please. Everything is delightful about it and it is so sad that it is all that remains of the great Nut Tree Hospitality. But we just love it and it is very nostalgic for locals and travelers alike. Every time my daughter comes into town we know one stop is going to be the Yummy “Black Oak”.
The breakfast is outstanding! Their outside seating is perfectly comfortable thru this Covid restrictions nonsense. I highly recommend this restaurant... just remember... the earlier you arrive on the weekend the better chance you won't have a wait!! it's amazing how comfortable I felt sitting in a parking lot I like the big tall beautiful tree right by their sign Black Oak Restaurant
Food was great.
Waiter was very good.
Quiet place.
I will go there again when I am back in town.
