We decided to have breakfast at the Pump cafe today for the first time. It was fantastic. I had the corned beef hash and eggs and in place of the toast I had a pancake. I am picky about my pancakes. And it was near perfect. My husband had lunch and choose the French dip. He too is picky. He said it was one of the best he has had in awhile. Coffee was good and refilled quickly. We can't wait to go back and try something else.
A favorite stop for lunch or breakfast whenever traveling through Springfield.
High quality food, prepared fresh, and served with excellent service. The owner is usually in house to make sure of this.
Funky location in a vintage service station, with eclectic decorations and tables and chairs.
If they are really busy, they have seating to wait for your table. They “turn the tables” fast, but never rush any customer.

My wife was looking for a good breakfast and when she saw The Pump Cafe was famous for its Raspberry Stuffed French Toast that is where we went. We were quickly seated since there were only a couple empty tables. My wife did get the stuffed French toast and really liked them. I got one of standards, Chicken Fried Steak and eggs and found it very good. I was surprised to only get one slice of toast instead of the more common, two, but it was enough food. The coffee was really good, from a local roaster, and well worth it. Service was good, diner level, which is to be expected. We might be back, especially if my wife thinks about the stuffed French toast.

I've been here almost a dozen times and I've never been disappointed. The building may not look like much from the outside, but their food is really good. I typically order breakfast (which they serve ALL DAY!) when I visit but friends and family have ordered burgers and sandwiches off their lunch menu, coming away very satisfied.
Just for example; they have a tasty stuffed french toast, good eggs Benedict with real ham & sauce (not that nasty fake stuff), very generous omelettes, and a huge breakfast burrito.
Wait staff has always been polite and accommodating, with friendly attitudes.
It's a cozy place but they'll find a spot for you! They even have a small patio for outdoor dining in good weather.
