I've been here a couple of times and each time I've had the all you can eat fried chicken. One time the waitress told me if I wanted the AYCE then I had to get a breast (I'm a dark meat guy) which I thought was strange. The chicken is pretty good although it can take awhile to get more. I also really enjoy the hashbrowns. It is much cleaner then the other Ziggies.
Excellent breakfast! Wonderful courteous service! Hand eaten here 3 times and every meal was cooked perfectly. Really like this well managed restaurant!
Good Standard Diner Fare. Heading back to Fort Worth from Columbia, MO I stopped here for breakfast. It looked like a lot of regulars come here, because a lot of the talk between the servers and customers was cozily personal. The atmosphere was simple and pleasant, with the television set to the Today Show. While reviewing the menu, my server brought me coffee and water and quickly returned to take my order of chicken fried chicken, scrambled eggs, hashed browns and a couple of pancakes as my side item.
All of the food was good standard fare, ala International House of Pancakes (IHOP). Eggs were fresh and nicely cooked, as were the hashed browns. They serve American fries as one of the optional sides. I didn't ask what that was. It is not French fries though since that is on the menu as well. The pancakes were good too. That is always questionable, as I am pretty picky when it comes to those. They can be heavy, or syrup absorbing or overly sour if too much buttermilk is used. These were light and airy. Very good. Coffee was great and the server never let me get beyond two gulps without refilling. (Thank you, server!)
I believe I had eaten at a different Ziggie's for dinner about ten years ago which was equally as good. If passing through or staying in Springfield, I believe you'll find Ziggie's a good choice.
