As a southern girl from Mississippi that now lives in the city.... This place sure does kick homesickness in the bucket! Granted it’s not the most southern food, but it’s more than enough for comfort and as close to it I can get. We’ve been here three times now! It doesn’t disappoint. Great atmosphere, good staff, family friendly, and AWESOME food! I appreciate the manager making rounds to check on guest. We will be back many times, and highly recommend to anyone looking for a great meal!
OMG! This restaurant exemplifies southern hospitality at its finest, and I live in Charleston, SC. Amazing venue ambiance, delicious food, gracious staff! Ugh, I could go on and on! It’s no wonder the place was packed out and people were waiting to be seated. The chicken was crisp and flavorful, greens sweet with hint of vinegar, shrimp & grits had all the right spices, and the biscuits were soft and buttery! It’s definitely a restaurant that you NEED to experience! I Can’t wait to come back in town and eat again! Thank you everyone (waitstaff & owner) for the wonderful experience!
📍Boston - Southern Kin Cookhouse
Walking around with friends at Assembly row and we found this amazing restaurant!
✨Full rack Ribs (10/10) - super flavorful but not too salty, meat is tender, and bones easily fall off…if you ever go this place, have to try this ribs!!!
✨ Half Roasted Chicken (10/10) Super tender! But crispy outside 👌 it’s amazing
✨Mason Burger
✨Pig Tails - first time try this, it’s actually very surprisingly good! Found good amount of cumin flavor 💓👌
I have to come back to try their Chicken n’ waffle 🧇
Ordered the Mason Burger, the Chicken & Waffles, and the grilled cornbread. The cornbread and accompaniments (jam and honey butter) were delicious. The mason burger was pretty good, however it was a bit overcooked and I was never asked by the server how I wanted it cooked. The chicken & waffles were very tasty. The portion sizes were perfect and the prices were reasonable for the area.
My roommate got their chicken and waffles and it was great. I got the grilled chicken sandwich and I would rate it a 3/5. Wish it had more substance than just a bun, aioli and chicken. Good but not exceptional. Their potato salad was OK. The service was OK.
Sat at the bar for dinner and the first thing I noticed was the fruit flies and that "bar smell" of something not clean. The rest of the spot gave off a nice down home on the farm feel with high ceilings and Americana decor. Very comfortable. The barkeep that night was attentive and offered up opinions on the menu. He rushed back and forth, kept up with drinks, and some chatter. Put in an order of the Nashville Hot Wings. 25 minutes layer, we got 5 meaty pieces, nicely grilled and seasoned and sauced. Would have loved more but dinner dropped right after the wings came out. Dinner arrived 10 minutes from the time we ordered. I ordered the impressive chicken n' waffles. The maple syrup was just maple syrup where the menu shows "fresno pepper maple syrup" however, the chicken was topped with thinly sliced fresno peppers. The honey hot pepper sauce was impressive and paired will with the perfectly fried chicken. The chedder-chive waffles were decent and mostly soaked up the hot sauce. As a side, we split an order of mac n' cheese. It was good with some toasted Ritz crackers or bread crumbs on top. The food was worth it. The service was great. Certainly need to swing back through for a burger.
The food was delicious. To start with our server seemed annoyed she had a table, but it all ended up okay. The kids devoured the fried chicken and the chicken and waffles were scrumptious 😋
Enjoyed the chicken sandwich I ordered a lot! It was crispy on the outside but so tender and juicy on the inside 😋
I'm also glad we got the basket of biscuits, even though we had no chance of finishing them, because they made a delicious breakfast for the next day!
The fries were also really good and the pecan pie was decent (wish they didn't serve it cold though).
