I was here last night the food was very tasty and fresh I had never tasted so much good food in forever here are my comments
1. The Chips are so good they taste like they were made out of the oven
2. The Salsa was very very good I was never a big fan of salsa but this salsa was the best I had ever had
3. The guac was so amazing It had a flavor of cilantro that really blew my mind away
4. The appetizers were very tasty my recommendation is the is chola corn cob it was very good hands down to corn
5. The yucatan meatloaf omg I never had meatloaf so good and tasty at the same time and very fresh I asked for the recipe and I could not get it again what a wonderful meal
Then for dessert we had churos and dipped in chocolate sauce I will admit It was very tasty and good
Overall this Is a place I recommend to anyone whose a Mexican food lover it's so good I think they should make another one in newton
This place should be on travel channel hopefully :)

First time here. Will definitely return. Front desk and server both excellent. Guacamole app very good, excellent tacos (had chorizo and octopus), enchaladas good, swordfish dish a little bland but not bad (expecting more spice).
My friend who lives in Somerville picked Painted Burro as our destination for Sunday Brunch. For a cocktail I tried the Bloody Maria, a fairly standard Bloody Mary made with tequila instead of vodka. It was good, but it was a bit too spicy even for my heat-tolerant tastes. For my entree I ordered the El Montanero "Superbeasto" which consisted of a conglomeration of meats, rice and beans, and plaintains over tortillas, topped with two fried eggs and sauce. I would normally be overwhelmed by all of this going on on one plate, however, it was very good. I would be curious to stop in for their regular dinner menu next time I am in the Boston area.

With margs on my mind, I returned to the PB on a Saturday night around 9. We went directly into the side room on the right side which has a long bar and smaller tables. They ID you at the entrance, and the vibe is much more bar-esque than the other side of the restaurant. With all the talking and the music, it's pretty loud, so don't go with a whisperer. We managed to grab two barstools in a corner by the front windows, but the tables were all full and the room was crowding fast. Our spot was cozy though, we had a nice view of the street, and we get a waiter! Who brings free chips and salsa! Me gusta mucho.
Salud! I had a Margarita De La Casa (House Margarita for our non-Spanish speaking friends in the room) which was mighty strong, mighty acidic, and had me feeling mighty fine in no time. My drinking partner got creative by ordering a "Mango Diablo" which is half of their El Diablo and half Mango margarita. It was sweet. It was spicy. It was ideal. The fresh salsa and crunchy chips were the perfect accompaniment. And made us go for another round. Great tactic, PB. I'm not even mad.
Now that I've gotten my marg fix, they have some seasonal options on the menu which have me curious. I go for the pumpkin sangria, which was a lovely blend of red wine, brandy, pumpkin, and spices. Served with a thinly sliced green apple on top, it definitely tasted the part and warmed me up despite being on ice. Co-drinker ordered the Palomita, which was lighter, fizzy, and grapefruity. I'd recommend it as a refreshing summer drink. But it's fall, so I'm pretty sure I won this round.
Chips devoured and drinks drank, we left feeling pretty great. Each beverage is around $10, so it won't be a cheap night, but the quality and atmosphere makes me ok with that. Next time you've got margs on the mind, the PB has got you covered. With a free side of chips.
At the end of the meal our server brought over comment cards, and I honestly couldn’t think of anything constructive to offer. Everything I tried was delicious, the service outstanding, and I wouldn’t change anything! Thanks to The Painted Burro and Boston Brunchers for hosting such a great event!

The Painted Burro is owned and managed by the same folks at Pizzeria Posto, which in my opinion is one of the most under-rated restaurants in Boston and offers exceptional Italian food. Check out both restaurants if you’re in the Davis Square area!
Overall, we had a great meal at The Painted Burro, and I do plan to return to try one of their margaritas (the restaurant offers over 100 craft tequilas). I am also excited to check them out for brunch - I've been told their Iced Coffee Horchata ($6) is incredible.
For a quick and cheap taco fix, I'd head back to a place like The Taco Truck, but for a nice night out with friends, I'd definitely return to The Painted Burro. It gets quite pricey, particularly if you delve into the drink menu, so don't go over there expecting tacos for a couple bucks each. It's closer in cost and feel to a place like Olé. Be sure to try the sweet corn ice cream!
Service was excellent and overall, Chef Cassinelli has created another winning restaurant. An excellent and exciting drinks program, a creative and compelling food menu, and plenty of good-sized and reasonably priced entrees. And a meatloaf that even haters would enjoy. They also serve Brunch, which I will be checking out over the weekend, and I'll report back on that as well.
Fantastic new brunch, always love the food here. I've been here twice in 2 weeks because the food is so good. Order anything, it'll all be worth it.
They don't mention that the items on the brunch menu are all small-sized, perfect for tasting. Pace yourself though, it's a lot of food!
Get the iced coffee horchata, it's so good!
First time here! Love the idea of a bottomless brunch. Food was mostly really good, especially the tacos (love!), the corn dish, and the tortas, with the exception of a few dishes: I thought the potatoes were a little dry and the muffin for the eggs Benedict was too tough (we couldn’t really cut it with a knife). You get 90 mins only but honestly the food is filling and the service is fast, so we were done within 45-60 mins. Amazing horchata iced coffee ❤️
The Painted Burro is pretty much unbeatable. You like Mexican and South American food? You’re set here. I’ve been for brunch (the cold brew horchata combo is a favorite) and dinner multiple times and this place has never missed. Combined with lovely service, a cool interior, and reasonable (for Somerville) prices, they never miss!
we had very good taco (Carne asada, double stack, gulf shrimp diabolo). Especially, crispy taco was really really enjoyable. chips and salsa was served complimentary at first time.
Overall good food, good vibes, good drinks for a Saturday brunch. Downsides relate to this being in a crowded part of Somerville with limited parking nearby depending on time of day. Another downside is that brunch service is super crowded and the service slows down. We ordered the bottomless brunch. They bring you out small tapas plates of anything on the brunch menu. As much as you want. However, several times our order got messed up or never arrived. The server was friendly and eventually the food came out, but it definitely wasn't seamless. Service started with a warm greeting but it ended with a cold/non existent farewell.
Great place to enjoy affordable Mexican food and drinks. Recently visited on a weekday night as a large group, and they were able to accommodate our group of 11.
We started off with some complementary nacho chips which were warm and crispy.
I got the Sonora sunset cocktail drink and it had a pleasant kick with jalapeños. Short ribs torta was delicious but it wasn't an ideal choice to have with cocktails as the bread was quite dry.
Overall, their service was somewhat lacking as they rarely came to our table and we had a hard time asking for things that we needed. Otherwise, I would recommend this place for casual hangouts for large groups.
