This place is the real deal. The entire experience made the ending to our weekend wonderful. The food was so flavorful, the atmosphere was enjoyable and upbeat, and the staff really made you feel welcome. We will definitely be back. We loved the seafood platter ,shrimp, and the gator was the best we have ever tasted.
I had a grilled shrimp & pasta dish recommended by our server. It was delicious! The restaurant is very casual & had lively Cajun music. We came to eat & enjoy Cajun food & atmosphere. I will be back.
I'f you looking for southern seafood. This is the place you need to visit. When it come to spices in their food. They have it down to the tee... great southern Louisiana atmosphere.
The Gumbo was excellent. We also had shrimp and stuffed shrimp. Everything was very good!! The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful.
I had heard mixed reviews about their crawfish, but I had a gift card and gave it a shot. Service was great and fast. The crawfish was a letdown, though. They sell it by the pound (currently 50 cents higher than Shane's) or platter. Size- smallest I've had in the last month. I'd call them small to medium (odd this deep in the season). Non-Select at Shane's have been much larger. Spice- not much flavor at all and water logged, like they'd been soaking in the cooler too long after cooking. And even though they SAY straight tails don't mean they were dead, I found several straight and a few beheaded by the scooper. It was busy, so everything should've been fresh. Overall, it was just not good. (Note: I have no affiliation with any restaurant)
Ate lunch at Crawdaddy's Kitchen in Shreveport, on Mansfield Rd. I arrived right at the lunch hour, the parking lot is rather small and they were having a truck deliver supplies. This unfortunately blocked access to the parking located at the rear, so be mindful that parking can be limited.
I was waited on right away. I ordered the crawfish etouffe and green tomato relish. The sweet tea is very sweet so some might be advised to order it half & half. Crawdaddy's is very casual so if you are looking for a white linen napkin, you won't find that here.
My food was brought right away. First, the tomato relish and tea, shortly followed by the etouffe, see the photos included. The relish is sweet & tangy, great for starters if you want less than a salad. The ettoufe has a creamy thick texture served over rice. Get the lunch portion if you have to go back to work after dining out. The taste is buttery and rich with vegetable and crawfish stock flavor. It was filled with crawfish and quite delicious. Some wanting a little more spice can add hot sauce or the crawfish seasoning, but be careful. The portion is substantial and I had a tough time eating both the relish & etouffe. The server refilled my tea once and asked when clearing away my plate if I was ready for my check. Some folks want dessert and some talk after lunch, I had to get on the road.
In all, I wasn't rushed but I was in and out of the restaurant in about a half hour. The price was reasonable and the food was outstanding. The only drawback is service can be slow at times. I have eaten at Crawdaddy's several times and had nothing but good food. Fried catfish is great as is the boiled crawfish.
Crawdaddy's is time and money well spent.
OMG. The food was fantastic. It was not "over seasoned" or too salty like so many Cajun food restaurants. The spicy fried gator tail was yummy as was the shrimp and oyster gumbo. They served you a full bowl of gumbo with the rice on the side so you could choose how much rice you wanted to add to your steamy bowl of Louisiana goodness. The fried catfish topped with crawfish étouffée was so good and was such a huge serving that I had to get a to go box. Our server was very attentive and kept our table clean and our tea glass full. We'll be back again soon.
Awesome oysters on the half shell! Large and fresh. Perfect with Tabasco and saltine crackers. They brought us fresh grated horseradish too. Also samples the red beans and rice and jambalaya. All were very good. Did I mention the oysters were awesome! This was our perfect southern dining experience. Great service and a fun atmosphere. We even left with a T-shirt.
FANTASTIC!. We went here while in Shreveport on a short vacation and enjoyed it very much. We had the Pistolettes, very very good. Then she had the fried shrimp, which was good. I had the Crawfish Supreme ("A serving of Crawfish Cornbread topped with a generous portion of Crawfish Etouffee.")... which was worth going to Shreveport all together. Just awesome. Oh and I saw the fried frog legs go by and they were huge and plentiful.
We were visiting the area from Alabama. Wanted to experience some good cajun food while here. The crawfish cornbread, fried crawfish, fried gator, fish and shrimp was excellent. The waitress was very nice and helpful with our choices. If you order appetizers and a meal you will need a to go box. Very Good.
Great crawfish!! great place!!. Very good food. The Boiled Crawfish are very good. The crawfish etouffee is some of the best I have had. Also the catfish is amazing, very high quality and perfectly cooked. That fish plate had 4 fillets on it and was only $7.99 came with fries and hush puppies
Very very good food, I've honestly only had one place better seafood-wise! But very crowded and kind of expensive on certain things, and the service isn't so great, but the food and your full belly is definitely worth it!!! I recommend for sure!
Very good selection! The fried mushrooms I could've done without, tasted jarred then fried. The boudin balls are amazing along with everything else. The pickled green tomatoes were so good and a new taste for us. Alligator and frog legs were....yummy!
I have refused to eat gumbo and jambalaya until I was able to eat it first in Louisiana. I have traveled a great deal around the world, but wasn't able to get to LA until a week ago. I was traveling from NC to TX and made sure I was going to be rolling through LA during lunch time. Because of the hurricane just coming through, I decided to avoid southern LA but I was still going to go through Shreveport. I actually chose a different place in the city that was super well rated and popular, but they were serving a Sunday brunch menu that had had no traditional Cajun food, so back to the drawing board. A few minutes on google and I settled on Crawdaddy's.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is very "southern home cooking" style.
I ordered a cup of gumbo and a cup of jambalaya. While waiting for my food, I was still scooping out the menu and decided to add a shrimp and grits as well.
The shrimp and grits came out first. I've had this dish here in NC and while it was my favorite I've ever had (call that a 10), this was a 9.5.
The gumbo came out next with a side of rice and saltine crackers.
So, as I mentioned before I've never had gumbo before, but I have been in the "food biz" for a long time and has seen countless gumbos throughout my day on TV and the web. Of course, every recipe of everything is always going to be different. This gumbo was thinner than I expected, but it has a nice flavor, chicken, sausage and other ingredients in it. It had some nice heat to it, but not overwhelming. Being my first, I will rate this a 7. It wasn't what I was expecting/hoping
The jambalaya was last and CERTAINLY now least. Came out w/ saltines as well and some green onion on top. This dish is full of tons of flavor. I was already super full so I had about 3 bites and got a to go container and ate it while I was driving through Texas. 10/10!!!
I will be driving through again in about a month and this is a scheduled stop.
My sister, her husband and myself went there and we had an Ahhhhmazing time!!! Wow! Excellent Service and The food was absolutely great! Although the drinks we had were not very tasty... The food was amazing! As food critics we were happy and we definitely will return! 🙂
Stand-alone restaurant with limited parking during busy times. Restaurant and restrooms were clean and good order. Wait staff was very very friendly helpful and attentive. For appetizers the boudin balls were excellent. Our entrees are also very good. Highly recommend.
This place deserves beyond 5 stars! Literally everything on the menu is spectacular! Louisiana cooking baby! Top favorite in town. Fried catfish with ettoufee on top! Bread pudding yes, yes! Seafood tacos...just buy the whole damn menu...don't forget beignets!
Drove from Nacogdoches to eat here. Oh me gee, this place is true cajun food. Well worth the drive. We had Dat Shrimp, Crawfish, Shrimp Poboy, pistolettes, and crawfish cornbread and peel shrimp.
The collard greens and chicken egg roll are worth the trip. Excellent food with hardy portions. Highly recommended.
