I've been going to The Brown Bear for a few years now, I live about 25 minutes south and it is well worth the drive up. I've had a lot of good cheeseburgers and theirs are at the top of the list. Get the bear burger supreme and you won't walk away hungry!
Service and food was great. Ashley waited on us and I have never had a better waitress. Definitely a good place to catch a bite to eat!!
Very cool place to eat I like to eat local as a traveling AG equipment salesman, food was phenomenal! Atmosphere and service was the best definitely will be back next time I am in the area seeing my customers, if you have never been or traveling through it is most certainly worth the stop!
This local place was fabulous! Julie got 18 of us seated on a Friday night within 10 minutes and we took up her whole section. We had 4 different checks with families split up and she managed it perfectly. We ordered burgers, salads, fish and chips and the prime rib sandwich. Everyone in our party rated their meal as excellent. The kitchen was like a well oiled machine and got all of our food out quickly and without any mistakes. Overall I highly recommend checking them out!
We did a quick search for nearby restaurants and landed here. Wasn’t sure what to expect when we pulled up but the place was amazing! Very clean and welcoming for a small town bar and grill. We were surprised by the variety of menu items and each one of us enjoyed what we ordered. The waitress was awesome…probably one of the best we’ve ever had anywhere. Food came out fast and was delicious! We will definitely stop again if we are ever passing through.
I usually always just get my order to go from here. Food preparation is quick and the staff is always super friendly. It can get busy depending on what is happening. Snowmobiles are always stopping in the winter months and big sports events can cause some wait time for a table. But all in all..... it's worth the wait and the food is awesome every time.
My girlfriend and I went here and I got "The notorious bear burger" and she ordered the smaller version "The cub". It was pretty good. I ate the whole thing in about 10 minutes or so. It's definitely possible to finish the entire thing if you want to test your stomachs limits a little bit. We both felt like our chairs were going to break if we moved wrong as we were sitting at one of the higher up tables so that wasn't great, but other than that the food wasn't bad. Onion rings were nothing special just thin breaded with a thin slice of onion in them. The fries were your typical fries also. It's a one time place for us, but glad I tried the burger.
Brown Bear is done of the best eating between Muskegon and Ludington. They've got a ton of tasty burgers, a foot long hotdog called "The Big Sexy", along with your typical bar food basics. Stop in and check it out for yourself. I can assure you that you won't be disappointed.
After sightseeing around Mears & Silver Lake State Park, My sister & I stopped here to get bite to eat. First we got cauliflower bites. Those were so good. I ordered BBQ Chicken Breast with side of steamed veggies & sweet potato fries. 😛. Service was GREAT.
Got the Pine a peno burger and the chicken sub, both were outstanding. Service was awesome, drinks were good, highly recommend
Absolutely amazing burgers. This is a must stop for us when we are in the Silver Lake area. I always go for the notorious bear burger. Cooked and seasoned perfectly it is over a pound. One of the best burgers in the state of Michigan. If you are in the Silver Lake area DO NOT miss the Brown Bear. Located in Pentwater and Shelby.
I’ve been to the Shelby Brown Bear twice in two weeks. Friendly staff, great service and wonderful food - try the homemade chips! Burgers are the best in west michigan.
