I don't make it over to the White Center part of Seattle very often at all. What drew me over here was that a new craft beer brewery opened. I have several restaurants bookmarked "to try" in this neighborhood but I'm almost always in the mood for Mexican food and Chemo's came up relatively close and there was no persuading in my mind that this is where I would have supper.
I wasn't too sure what I wanted but the guy at the counter was extremely helpful with telling me more about the menu options that they offered.
I got three cheese enchiladas and chips and salsa, all of which were very good. Some cheese enchiladas go a little overboard with the cheese and then it feels like I get a block in my stomach but that wasn't the case here. The portions of ingredients and for the meal itself were very appropriate and I left feeling just right.
As I said the staff were very helpful but they were also very friendly and when I was here it looked like one half of the room was having a big party which made the dining experience all the more interesting (I love to people watch) along with catchy dance music!
Yelp's pic of their carne asada led me to bookmark this place months back and after reading the Yelp reviews this evening, I finally made the virgin voyage. Note that the sign and web identify the business at this address as Chemo's Mexican Restaurant. Fav dish was the chile relleno, with a hotter-than-average pepper, yummy batter and creamy cheesy casomorphine. The carne asada had a delish, smoky flavor. The spacious interior was ready for a big party to kick up any time of day or night and had a comfortably casual feel about the booths that lined the walls around the room that made me want to dine in even though it was almost empty. The woman in the kitchen and man at the counter where just beautiful and had such a friendly, relaxed continence that it seemed they mistook us for regulars. Yet another gem in White Center.
For those who haven't visited Chemo's yet, we are glad we did. As an AZ native, their flavors are the closest I've come to tasting my neighbor's mama's beans, those homemade Mexican flavors that are elusive to find this far north. It seems so simple, but it's like Ratatouille, when the food reviewer tastes the food and warps back to childhood. It's gotta have soul and Chemo's has it. 10000% recommend
Fantastic food! The chicken burrito is a symphony of flavor. Really friendly owners, and great service. A wonderful White Center community member!!
The most authentic tasting Mexican food I've had in Seattle! It reminds me of my grandmas cooking ❤ I recommend the sopes 😋
A stellar deal and it's such good food. Some of the best I've seen in Seattle so far and I moved here from Southern Arizona
Great homely food. The owner is excellent, great customer service.
This is a family owned restaurant that relies on word of mouth.... So here are the words out of my mouth. Amazing verde, the most tender lengua, crispiest flautas, and all around delicious home food. The reason being, this IS their family's home food. Absolutely incredible, and intimate experience with your host/server, who is the son and husband of the cooks in the back! Don't forget to try the sugar cookies at the counter... 3 for a dollar and you won't believe how they melt in your mouth. Make sure you have milk!!
