The food was good and I spent the third time visiting Ethiopian style cuisine and the restaurant food and ambiance was good.
The spicy level was medium and I loved it.
The only concern was that it took time to serve the order and taste wise no concerns on that.
My friend, Dan and I had a veggie combo and lamb Tips. The food was delicious! It has an authentic Ethiopian taste. our server was very attentive and recommended the Ethiopian beer (Harar) to go with the dinner menu. We enjoyed the hospitality and thanked the owner.
I've been living within a 4 minute walk for over a year now, and only occasionally stopped by for drinks when the other Ethiopian restaurants were closed.
But... the atmosphere and design of the place is very cozy and personal. The bathroom? VERY large, and always kept clean.
As for the food... I ordered my first dish late last week: the first thing on the menu, Beef Tips. The menu is littered with typos all over the place, but the ingredients are easy to understand, and many are quite similar in description. Even so, don't let that deter you.
Those basic beef tips were wonderful, and two nights ago, I got "green chicken" (chicken tips cooked in spinach). Oh my god. I've gone out of my way while living in NJ to find a Senegalese restaurant, and their lamb + greens were on point... but the portions were tiny. Not so here. Whether you order food on a plate or to go, the presentation seems to always be neat, tidy, and on point.
Get in there the way the food is meant to be eaten. Screw a fork, use that signature bread to pick things up and sop up sauces. And if you need a good, solid trial run, you CANNOT go wrong with the Green Chicken. The spices are wonderful, the chicken is tender, and the spinach tastes totally fresh without being bitter in any unpleasant way.
Ras Dashen has great vegan options. I like spicy food and I especially liked the Fir Fir and Shiro Wot. It is communal style dining so make sure you are prepared for that. The honey wine actually tastes like honey, and I really liked it!
I went to this restaurant due to a recommendation from a friend. I wanted to try some authentic Ethiopian cuisine. The restaurant is clean, food preparation quick, presentation and service impeccable. I will be going back.
Ras Dashen is a very pleasant Ethiopian restaurant. The food is delicious, the injera tender, the atmosphere homey but bright, and the staff is always nice. One of my favorites among the Ethiopian restaurants arrayed along Cherry street.
We love Ras Dashen so much. The food is amazing, the wait staff has a very friendly vibe. As vegetarians, my wife and I have many many options but the tomato fit fit is a must have 5/5
I personally like it because they are clean with delicious food and respectful service it feels like home to me you guys should go and try it ur self 10000000/10 😋😋yummy food
Beautiful restaurant and amazing food- what more can you say! I had the beef tibs and shared some other dishes with friends and everything was delicious. Can’t wait to come back.
We had a wonderful dinner at Ras Dashen. The food is fabulous and the hospitality was wonderful. Our combos were so delicious as were the individual dishes.
