We love Makeda for all the following reasons: 1st, the coffee is delicious because the flavor of the beans comes through unlike Starbucks where they taste bitter and burnt. The pastries are made by Macrina Bakery, so always scrumptious, and she has savory scones.
The owner is a woman who is always there, which is a good thing to support. Dogs are allowed inside which is quirky and fun.

Very Smooth. This was the second cafe visited of 4 in the neighborhood and it stood out as having a very smooth cup of coffee. I had a mocha, while my friends had drip.
A bonus if you like dogs, as there are usually one or two (or more) inside at a time.
The vibe in here was the best, very chill. And the coffee was soo good! Very nice barista as well !!
How have we not been here yet? I'm ashamed of myself. Walked in, the only person there was a friend. 😂🤦♀️ The coffee was absolutely delicious. It felt a lot like going to a friend's house, and we will definitely be back.
Nice, dog-friendly (say hi to Mingus) spot with cheerful staff tucked just off the arterial (push through the neighbors' brunch line and enjoy some better coffee and eavesdrop or participate in the chatty locals' shop-spanning discussion). Options and interesting concoctions abound.
Available single origin espresso make for a delightfully novel treat on occasion.
They charge out the nose for extra shots. My Americano was $9 bc I wanted more than 2 shots in a 20 oz. It's so good, I wish it was economical to go back 😭
Amazing coffee shop. Great coffee options! Lots of room for kids to play. Good place to sit and ready and have time to self. Prices match budget. Happy happy!
Love this place! We went for the first time today and the coffee & pastries here are so tasty! The space is cozy and well decorated, can’t wait to come back!
Also please tell Mingus he’s a little star!!
It's got that old seattle vibe, y'know. Coffee is great. There's lots of local artists and makers showcased.
Dog friendly!!!
Such a cute spot! The barista was super nice and knowledgable (didn't catch their pronouns, but they had bleached hair) and recommended some things I can't wait to go back to try! Coffee was great - it's a bit out of my way, but I'll definitely be back!
Just left here the barista was SO friendly which was the first thing I appreciated. I ordered a lavender latte, the last several I’ve gotten had been pretty bad at other places so I wanted to give it one more shot, it was the best I’ve had yet. Plus they had 3 adorable dogs when we went in so this place wins best coffee shop in Seattle :)
I like this coffee shop. I had the best mocha I've ever had in my life (made by their awesome barista, Dismas). The quaint and rustic little shop is relaxing, and non imposing. It's dog friendly, and just a cool place to spend an hour.
