The food was fantastic. This was our first time trying Ethiopian cuisine and the lady running the restaurant provided us with some valuable (and tasty) recommendations. The portions were very sizable, allowing us to bring home another meal's worth of leftovers. The atmosphere was intimate, with only four tables, and the family running the restaurant partook in some wonderful conversation. They truly made us feel like family at Altaye. We most certainly will be going back again. Thanks so much for the wonderful introduction to Ethiopian cuisine!
Wonderful place with the best food. Family owned and super friendly folks. Everything tastes amazing. The service is fast too and always so friendly.
2 things to keep in mind: 1) It's better for them if you being cash to pay so they will run your card, but if you hit an atm first it makes them so happy. 2) the place is tiny!! I've never had to wait for a table, somehow there just is one, but they do take out too if it's crowded.
I take everyone who visits here because the food and people are so good!!
I was uncertain about what to expect due inconsistent reviews. We were served within a few minutes of arriving. The hostess was very pleasant. My friend and I each ordered the combo plate. Both portions were served on a single large platter of injera bread and two more servings of injera on the side. We were provided another upon request, no charge. Not having eaten Ethiopian in years, we were trying to be tidy w/napkins and forks but the hostess encouraged us to just use the injera to pick up the food and getting your fingers in the food was supposed to be part of the fun. And it was delicious fun. I was perhaps expecting larger portions for cost.
Altsya is a sweet, cozy, family -owned gem. I had a wonderful late lunch there today. I ordered the veggie combo. My food was delicious, the injera was steaming hot and the perfect blend of nutty flavour, light and stretchy. Yum! The chai was also perfect, steaming hot and sweet but not too sweet. Lastly, the service was warm and friendly, I'll be back again soon!
Great homemade authentic flavors, BEST CHAI I've ever had! My boyfriend and I a little trouble finding the place (no thanks to GPS), so we called to get directions ( we were on the same street), next thing you know it the woman (I forgot her name! :( ) came outside to make sure we found it, waited for us to park, and welcomed us in!! Can't wait to go again!
Titi is a most wonderful host making wonderful food. Simple and great flavors. We've been coming for years and continue to come for the smiles and happy belly afterwords.
I haven't been here in about a year, but this place is incredible. The authentic Ethiopian is the best I've ever had. The owners are really friendly. It's a real experience. Highly recommended
We love this place and the people who own and operate it. It's a small and intimate family restaurant. The food is excellent and reasonably priced and eaten by hand as it is Ethiopia. Charming and friendly people!
When actually discussing the food this is by far the best Ethiopian in Seattle. The alpha and omega. Their success is largely due to having one consistent cook, Titi. She has mastered this cuisine and you will have delicious food if you go here.
Altace has amazing homey foods. Titi always greets us with a smile on her face and is so welcoming. I recommend this place to all of our friends and visit as often as we can. This is always a stop for us when visiting home.
