Checked out their new brunch. The brisket hash was tasty and huge. The patio out back is nicely segregated from Roosevelt and is pleasant to eat in. They have a great beer list and the food menu had changed quite a bit since they opened. The saddest thing about my visit was the fact that the waffles were not in the shape of Texas.

Let me start off by saying I usually look up restaurants on Yelp. Try and learn more about them, when they started, read other reviews and ultimately experience it for myself. It is a choice I make to give a business my service and reading some of these other comments I feel like there is no way in HELL we ate at the same restaurant. OR these other people are very unclear on what GOOD barbecue actually tastes like and feels like! Barbecue Smith is a ravin 10/10 restaurant but sadly Yelp will only let me give it 5 stars. I was visiting town and had heard about this restaurant from other Yelpers in the community and had heard nothing but great things so I knew I wanted to stop in and give it a go. The atmosphere is awesome! It used to be such a weird and quirky Mexican spot before they took it over and the new decor and paint and ambiance is GREAT! Stained wood and bar counter tops line the entry way and lead you in to the order counter and on to the bar at the back. We ordered a Texas Trinity which includes a WHOLE lot of food! Ratings and dishes to follow! The Texas Trinity is their special at the moment which is made of up the BEST damn Brisket I ever had, 2 house made sausages, a rack of ribs, a half pound of smoked turkey and then we ordered just about one of each of the sides we went ALL IN! Brisket 10/10: couldn't stop shoveling, get their hot sauce it's not TOO hot but it is full of flavor and they use some of their Kimchi musings to spice it up and give it more flavor! How people said this was DRY!? I have literally NO IDEA but it ANGERED ME GREATLY! Smoked Turkey Breast 10/10: this is the second thing I couldn't stop shoveling into my face, super high quality. Great texture and not dry AT ALL with the perfect smoked outside. I'm gonna run out of room here on this review but... Kimchi is house made by the owners Mom I found out. A legit Korean mama who knows what she is doing. Huge chunks of radish and GREAT Kimchi flavor complimented the BBQ like it should and with a beer that would have been divine. Can't go wrong with the sides, all of them are good flavor and I would suggest you eat the Mac n Cheese while its good and hot! Bonus: you can order an appetizer of deep fried peanuts you eat IN THE SHELL! Sounds super weird but it's incredible. Obviously I was blown away and loved the unique experience I got here at BBQ Smith. The staff and crew was attentive and courteous and FAST with great service. We ordered our food and I'd say it was ready within 6 minutes and served and ready for shoveling! This establishment you order at the counter then pick a spot and wait to be called but there is plenty to keep you entertained from people watching to tv watching (olympics yeahhhhh!) to eyeing other people's tasty dish choices. You can't go wrong. Thanks for bringing such great BBQ to the Washington! The chef really is talented and I can't wait to go there again to see what he's cooked up or smoked up this time! Cheers and thank you once again!

Being from the south... I miss BBQ. This place makes me happy. Great brisket..... Great. The sausage and St Louis Ribs are awesome. There are some Asian influences in the sides....which are good. The kimchee is spicy....the collard greens with miso are just right. We liked the cornbread and they even serve sweet tea. Go. They might be a little crowded....but it's worth it!

It doesn't get any better than this. Tender brisket and savory sausages paired perfectly with cornbread and their eclectic selection of craft brews. Considering that the owner also operates Chuck's Hop Shops, it is no surprise that the beer list is constantly rotating fresh styles and the atmosphere is both welcoming and casual.

Brisket Plate and ribs plate (each with two sides) was a solid and filling meal. BBQ Smith has a great beer selection along with their awesome meats. Sides are good too - Mac and cheese, collared greens, beans, and potato salad are great options. Stoked to go there when it heats up in the summer and make use of the patio!

Probably the best classic no frills barbeque I have had anywhere near Seattle. Amazing smoke ring on the dry rubbed meats. Ribs, brisket, hot links, pulled pork, and more. Super quick. Be sure to go early and don't be sad if they run out, everything is cooked same day.

Loved it. The ribs were falling of the bone and the brisket was among the best we've had in Seattle. The side we had were the mac and cheese--good not to cheesy and the noodles were perfectly al dente. The BBQ beans had a little kick but not too much. The potato salad was just what I wanted--two kinds of potatoes, onions and light mayo. The collard greens were well cooked and had sizeable chuncks of pork cooked in. We topped it all off with some great local beers. It was great and we'll be back with our 2 year old in the future.

Best barbecue I’ve had in Seattle! The brisket is to die for. Love that the sauce is on the side and not lathered like how barbecue goes wrong. The chili is very nice with a good kick and the cornbread is perfect with it. I grew up in the south and this brings me back to home.
