My vegetarian partner and I are on a mission to eat all the plant-based sushi we can find and we were blown away by the sushi at The Sushi Samurai when visiting Seattle. This restaurant was serving regular sushi up until a year ago but you would not be able to tell the difference with their converted menu. The chefs clearly treat plant-based food with respect. Not to mention the outdoor ambience is really beautiful and our server from today (who happened to be the owner’s brother) was so friendly. We ordered the Samurai, Maui, Ring of Fire, and Red Dragon and all were excellent. Highly highly recommend!
Hands down the best vegan sushi you will ever find anywhere! The best I’ve ever had. Better than Beyond Sushi in New York (which I absolutely loved, don’t get me wrong) and better than Planta! Seriously, no place will ever come close to this for me! I recommend the Seattle Tempura Roll. I’ll be thinking about it for awhile! So delicious! Definitely make a reservation if you want to sit outside in their nice outdoor area.
I am a HAPPY customer! Delicious food, wonderful service, and great vibes all around. I love to see restaurants get so creative with vegan cuisine. I'm telling all my friends and will definitely come back!
I was very skeptical when my vegetarian friends recommended this place. I was amazed how close the taste of vegan sushi is to the real sushi and loved all the different options, though it was too good that it was hard to choose from! The presentation is beautiful and the staff ai friendly! I’ll definitely return.
It was our first time here and first time trying vegan fish. I’d say everything was delicious and the service was quick.
We had green goddess and red dragon. Red dragon was spicy but we really enjoyed it.
The Sushi Samurai ONLY serves VEGAN sushi. I was pleasantly surprised by the taste for it being fake fish. However, it wasn’t the best sushi and can’t compare to real fish. The salmon and tuna were lacking in taste and were very lean (no fat). The texture was more jelly-like and the tempura shrimp was a bit spongy and also lacking in flavor. Overall, it’s a great option for vegans but there’s room for improvement in terms of taste and texture, and if you are looking for real sushi I would just go eat real fish.
I feel bad for not taking photos 😭
This place was *amazing*. We brought some friends here for a birthday - it was amazing. The gyoza was super hot and mega crispy and delicious, all the rolls were fantastic. Honestly I would have a really hard time telling the rolls were not real fish. Better than many non-vegan sushi places we've had. The staff was also really nice.
We'll definitely be coming back here.
As generally COVID conscious people, we *really* hope they can make winter-adaptions for their patio. We made an exception to eat inside this time, but we probably won't be back till the spring or summer to enjoy their pergola! But I hope you decide to support this rare gem of the Seattle vegan scene.
This was some of the best sushi / vegan sushi I’ve had on my trip to the west coast. The price is well worth the meal. They were a bit short staffed at the time and one the chef took our order; he was very nice and friendly. Next time I’m in Seattle I will definitely make another visit. Highly recommend the yoga roll for sushi with some crunch and the red dragon for the perfect amount of spice
AMAZING Sushi !! All Vegan place.
We are vegetarian and barely get to choose one or two kinds of sushi when we eat out.
Having 10+ sushi options was just amazing.
The place was clean, Services is good, and food was outstanding.
🍶Dinner: The Sushi Samurai, Seattle, WA
Hands down the best sushi I have ever had!
This restaurant turned into an all vegan sushi restaurant quite recently.
1. House made sake. The warm sake was the best thing to counter the slight chill in the tent seating area.
2. Gyoza. This was okay. The sweet chilli sauce served with it was the best!
3. We ordered four different sushi . Yoga, Ring of fire, Seattle roll and Dragon. We were spoilt for choice as there were +25 menu items to choose from. My favorite was Ring of fire - it had ghost pepper sauce and jalapeños it was hot but not very hot! The yoga sushi was the perfect sweeter counterpart. The Seattle salmon sushi was my second favorite. I loved the sweet sauce drizzled on the crunchy dragon sushi
