Great coffee space in the ID, excellent customer service and friendly atmosphere.
Incredible customer service! Traveling across the nation, I have been to hundreds of cafes. The Baristas go above and beyond to ensure your needs are met. Truly an enjoyable experience.
After trying to find a comfortable place in Chinatown to stop for a bite while waiting for a ride, we thankfully found the Eastern Cafe. Nice open space with a great upstairs. The staff was super nice to us. We ordered an espresso tonic, a chai tea latte, and their veggie sandwich. It was nice to see that they took their time and put care into each item. While it took longer than one might be used to at other cafes, it was well worth it. The chai tea latte was one of the best we've tried. The espresso tonic was something I'd read about and had to try. It was an experience, looks great and the dried citrus touch was really nice. I'm not sure if I'm sold on the drink, but it was pretty good. Our veggie sandwich was fantastic, just what we needed for an afternoon snack to split. The balance of flavors and textures was great, it was very enjoyable. I'd definitely come back.
One of a kind coffee shops in seattle.
Traditional paper menu, the person explained the specials and also recommended their unique coffee produce and in house charm that they add.
We ended up taking turkish cortado which I think was really good.
Must try!
Genuinely some of the best coffee I've had thus far! They've got the simple like lattes and espresso's nailed down-- 0 acidity, super smooth, accompanied with some really delicious tones. Typically I feel like a lot of coffee shops that have really cool latte art lack flavor, but there's something special to be had in every drink.
The matcha lattes aren't overpoweringly sweet, and the flavor cuts through and settles on the palate nicely.
The chai here is also incredibly good. I feel like out of every chai I've tried (and even personally made) doesn't stand a chance to the wonderful bite to be found in Eastern's take on a classic.
Good food definitely offers a tempting incentive to swing by every once in awhile, but what really gets me coming back is the service and genuine connection waiting to be made here. Damien just so happens to be the guy that rings me up, and he's always got something interesting to add or say-- great conversations will typically always precede some equally as good beverages.
The best part about this cafe?
Showing old friends their new favorite spot.
Nice cafe in the International District, Their crape was very good. Small but good menu selections. They have upstairs as well. Pretty neat place to relax by yourself and/or meet with friend (s). Street parking only.
Great looking two story space perfect for coffee and a book. I had a nice breakfast sandwich and delicious London Fog.
Sweet service and great coffee. Nice place to sit and wait for someone who is indulged in the pinball museum next door : )
Living in the international district, this will be my go to spot. The crepes, breakfast sandwich, and coffee were all 5 stars and the staff was very friendly, helpful and non-pretentious which created a welcoming environment.
Well done Eastern Cafe! We will be back 🙂
May 2022 update: Eastern is back after being closed during covid. They are even better than before. Truely, the best lattes I've had in Seattle (I've had a lot!).
While they don't make crepes anymore, they have a new chef starting next week that will be making some menu changes. Fingers crossed for crepes!
Excellent crêpes (sweet or savory)! I had the vegetarian and added an egg to it. Good vibe, great place to meet up and chat or work on your computer (80% of the people here while I ate my lunch and enjoyed my afternoon coffee, while working on my computer, were working on their computer).
I usually and am underwhelmed by lattes in cafes, but they get it just right. The Eastern Iced Coffee is so smooth and tasty, I want to come back and try some more.
It’s also a great spot and very chill if you want to take a rest or do some work.
This was a favorite spot when I lived in the ID. The seven days a week happy hour often got me in with the cheap draft beers. And free pretzels to munch on too! The space is fun and very unassuming. I did knock off a star for the less than stellar staff. I'll often wait at the register while they finish a personal conversation, and they're usually irritated by my presence. But for $3 beers, I'll deal with it!
