great little hole in the wall place! food was good and atmosphere was nice. parking is a little sketchy but you can park right in front. I really enjoyed the sesame ball as it was less sweet than they normally are and had different filling.
I saw the words tofu, vegan, and buffet out of the corner of my eye while on the 554 bus and knew I needed to come to ChuMinh. After a 8 mile hike, this buffet was the perfect meal for my friend and I to replenish. The buffet was $33.01 including 20% tip and came with a free drink. The variety of the buffet was super impressive with flavors of tofu, seitan, vegetables, and noodle dishes that were new to my palate (they were also unlabeled so I kind of just got a little bit of everything). My friend who has been vegan for 9 years was also extremely shocked by the variety and unique Vietnamese flavors. The staff is super friendly and the environment is very chill with a self service water station and homey Buddhist decorations.
I've always struggled to find vegan Vietnamese food but this one is a GREAT find!! Going to go back here often. The spicy tofu banh mi and the spicy noodle soup 🍜 was amazingg!!!
loved the food! fully vegan with a huge variety of options from fried rice, stir fry noodles, a ton of tofu dishes, vegan egg rolls. yum! 🌟🌟🫶💛
DELICIOUS! One of the best Banh Mi I have ever eaten. The mock meat had a lot of flavour and you can’t even tell it’s vegan! I ordered 2 sandwiches and a side of spring rolls. I did not eat in as I was on a tight schedule, but they allow you to order through their website and pick up in store…my meal was already waiting for me when I arrived! The actual location is umm pretty sketchy too….but the food…10/10!
It feels like staying in your grandma's kitchen! This buffet is OUT OF THIS WORLD with mainly gluten free options, and everything is vegan! You can get plates by the pound or if it goes over 2 pounds they just charge the all you can eat price. Such a sweet and wholesome place with infinitely delicious food. Definitely my favorite hidden gem!
This place has the best deep fried spring rolls that I know. It was recommended by a friend. they were busy when we arrived around 1:00 PM Sunday, 4/23/2023. We asked if we could on short notice order 50 spring rolls for a potluck at work.
They got a small lady to answer and she figured the cost at $65.00. She said that she would add ten. We liked her, very friendly.
They were super busy. They were very well staffed, so they could handle the rush of diners. The is a separate dining area with about ten tables. The buffet looks delicious.
Two days prior we had ordered a party tray of pork egg rolls from a favorite Filipino place. These from Chu Minh Tofu were three times bigger and had a tasty mix of vegetables as well as the pork.
While we waited the lady brought out a couple of fresh cooked ones to try. YUM. With a dozen extra, the cost of the egg rolls was about $1.00 each.
I took a lot of pictures and I want to return for the buffet ($25.00). My wife says she doesn't want to eat there because the floor of the deli was dirty.
That street corner sat 12th Ave S and S Jackson St is a gathering place for rowdy homeless people. The parking lot is small and is enclosed in a tall chain link fence. For a while, someone had double-parked behind us. They left before we did, so it was not a problem.
The deli had bags and boxes of food for the homeless out front. People were sitting around eating in the parking lot and handing bananas to their homeless friends through the fence.
There were really a lot of young adult Asian and American people coming and going. This atmosphere didn't bother me at all. But it is the reason for rating at only four stars. I kind of love a funky place and ChuMinh Tofu stole my heart.
I’m not even a vegan and while
I don’t exclude it from my diet I typically find vegan food less tasty, but this place has some of the best bánh mís in town.
The service here is amazing and the price is reasonable as well, you always get a free egg roll while waiting on your food and the people working the counter are extremely pleasant to deal with.
The only downside is the area tends to be a little iffy, last time I was there a few people started a garbage fire. But that’s no fault of the business and if you have a car it’s easy to park and get in and out and mind your own business.
They feed the homeless every Sunday morning which is not only caring, but awesome. They have the best Tofu that I've tried in the United States.
This place is incredible. Best bahn mi I’ve had in Seattle. They gave me a free egg roll while I was waiting. Really nice folks, delicious food and they give free food to those in need on Sundays. Quite the gem. Check them out!
