I absolutely adore this place! I stop in for dinner to satisfy my chicken vindaloo craving and this place never fails. The service is always great and the food is always delicious, flavorful and the same as the first time I stopped in. Consistency wins 5 stars in my book.
They also have a weird sports bar on the side and they service terribly strong drinks. I mean terribly in the best way possible.
Great!. Delivery was fast and online ordering was easy. One minor thing, whoever put our order together didn't label the containers, it would have made figuring out what was what a lot easier! Nonetheless, tasty Indian fare and ample portions. As a note, an order of rice comes in a quart container, so be aware and don't over-order like we did!
The buffet here is $9 and delicious. I am stunned by some of the negative reviews. Service is awesome, restaurant is absolutely spotless. It might be the cleanest place I've ever been. The goat curry might have converted me to eating goat forever. If you haven't been here, you gotta try it. Buffet runs from 11:30-2:30 every day.
Food is great, service is just ok.
My Favorite Bar. What else can I say?. You may have driven by the cheesy exterior of Alaska Junction's Indian restaurant, or even eaten inside the chandelier strewn restaurant -but many have not been inside the hidden jem, the Maha bar.
Although not as cozy and 'divey' as it once was, with it's 60's decor, torn booths, and year-round Christmas tree, it has somehow maintained the feel of a welcoming neighborhood bar. I attribute that to Bogie, the bar manager. The dark granite, fancy bar, leather chairs, and fancy finishes, are balanced with quirky regulars, stiff drinks, the original wall mural of Seattle(the one thing left intact after the remodel), and the welcoming bartenders. Bogie, the bar manager/bartender, is the only bartender that I've ever given a Christmas card to. He makes this place feel like a friend's living room to me, as well as many others. Now, there is a new addition to the staff, the sweet and adorable Courtney.
Without further ado -and sappy descriptions, here are the Top 5 reasons that I LOVE the Maharaja Cuisine of India:
5. The Lunch Buffet is $9. Although it isn't as good as the actual dinners, I can come for lunch, work on the free WiFi and chat with my favorite bartenders all at once! What a great place to come for a work lunch!
4. The cast of regulars. The Maha is like a uber-dysfunctional version of Cheers. The look of the bar may have changed, but the patrons have not. You never know what to expect as the night progresses.
3. The happy hour. From 4-7 ad 10-1, there are drink and menu specials. The happy hour menu is a spectacular deal.
2. The stiff drinks. Enough said.
1. The bartenders, Bogie and Courtney. I have never seen bartenders take such pride in their work. If the Maha and it's bartenders had a mission statement, it would probably be, 'The Maha Lounge is a drinking establishment with the goal to create a comfortable atmosphere in which patrons can happily take part in extensive drinking, dancing, singing, and bullsh*tting." P.S. Bogie's drink concoctions are tasty -so just ask him to surprise you!
Thank you Maha. I'll see you tomorrow.

Great Place & Great Food. We wondered in here, not knowing anything about it, one Sunday afternoon, with two 6 year olds.
The Indian buffet was fantastic! Lots of choices, with yummy selections for both meat eaters and vegetarians.
However, they were also able to deliver great chicken tenders and fries to the two (typically picky) 6 year olds, who were extremely happy with their meals.
Very good prices too. I only wish they were located in Ballard, but I'll have to visit next time we spend a day at Alki.
This place is the bomb! The samosas and the vegetable korma are my favorites but everything else I've tried has been delicious too.
I wish it was cheaper because I would eat it every day! The buffet is a good deal and they keep it freshly stocked. I long to be able to make Indian dishes like these! Any of the korma and tikki sauces are delicious!
We have been eating at Maharaja for the last eight years and love it...I love their Bartha and butter chicken. Don't let the exterior fool you, the inside is charming and comphy.
Good stuff. I really like the food here, but the best is coming in for the lunch buffet on a Sunday in the fall and sitting down in the bar and watching football.
Beer, football and curry are a surprisingly brilliant combination.
This was an amazing experience, we just came in here in a whim. So happy we did. Dinner for 2 was a great deal. Hearty samosas, sizzling platter of several tandoor chicken drumsticks, 2 large portions of curry, delicious naan (option to swap your dessert for an extra naan). Perfect mango lassi, chilled and no ice, which is a big deal! Most places ice them, so they get watered down and you get less lassi. Curries were delicious. Lamb was fantastic. There was also a caddy on the table with a mint chutney, tamarind sauce, and curried cauliflower pickle. These were so elevating for the food! A nice touch that most places don't seem to have. For dessert I had the pistachio ice cream. It was delicious. It was creamy and cold, not icey at all. Nutty and the perfect way to finish the meal. Service was great! Professional and attentive.
Only thing: the samosas were served on a plate with a random toss of raw cabbage chunks. It felt like a weird garnish, it wasn't really usable. And it kind of cheapened otherwise amazing samosas. Maybe without it, or on a bed of shredded cabbage because then at least it could be eaten with the different chutneys from the caddy.
Honestly, this restaurant is the best Indian restaurant I have ever been to. I can easily say it is one of the best foods I tasted in the whole west coast as well.
Great people, amazing service, always kind and respectful.
The food is so good that makes me want to go back almost every day.
we’ve taken all our friends and family there and honestly everyone loved their food.
Both vegetarian and non vegetarian options are great!
We had veg samosa, lamb biriyani and mango lassi. The place is pretty cool in West Seattle Downtown. The restaurant stuff was really nice.
I'm officially dining here three nights a week now, the food is that good. In fact, I have never had a bad experience here, dine in or takeout. And the service is consistently great, especially Gary. He goes the extra mile to create a very pleasant and relaxing experience.
All around, highly recommended restaurant!
Great food and service. The bhangara baingan is a must-have. This is the only place where I would prefer vegetarian options over meat. The service was great too, and they always checked if we needed something. Shoutout to Gary for his courteous service. The Thali options here are perfectly priced for what you get. Loved the music as well. Recommended.
This place looks much bigger on the inside! Great food, clean, dine in with lots of booths, very fast and attentive wait staff, friendly. Moderate pricing ($$). Not too crowded at 745pm on a Tuesday when we went as a party of 2.
We ordered the non vegetarian dinner for $56 which came with:
1) 1 appetizer of vegetable pakora or vegetable samosas
2) Tandoori chicken
3) 1 curry chicken or lamb of your choice
4) 1 vegetable curry dish of your choice
5) regular or garlic Naan
6) basmati rice
7) your choice of dessert
Total bill was about $75 with water. We had leftovers for lunch the next day.
Overall, very good!
We ordered the inner for two with chicken sate and tikka masala. Both were delicious and the spice levels were well-balanced. They also serev Taj Mahal beer which accompanied the meal excellently. I will be returning for delicious Indian meals in the future. Thank you for the hospitality.
This is one of the best Indian restaurants we have ever been to. Spice level 4 perfect! Extremely good authentic Indian food. It’s no wonder they have been with us for so many years. Service is great. Loved it. Can’t wait to go back !
One of the best Indian restaurants in the state. I drive all the way from Bothell to Maharaja whenever I am in the mood of some authentic North Indian food.
I have never been disappointed by anything I have ordered on the menu. It’s perfect for a family dinner or just for the night out with friends, the bar option is great and they have a decent variety of drinks available!
The service is excellent, the staff is very friendly and always goes above and beyond to make us feel welcome.
Good Indian food and great service!
The place reminded me of dhaba side food in north, the food was piquant. We tried them on Christmas
night and the food was delicious. The place has a lot of seating and had ample parking.
For appetizers we tried the gobhi Manchurian and the food brought me back to India. It had the right
mix of flavors with its spice level and sweetness. We requested for green chutney and they bought a
container of different types of chutneys similar to what you get in India.
We tried the malai kofta 5/5 and kadhai paneer
3.5/5 and the gravy for both was good! The malai kofta is a must try, the kofta was soft, and creamy.
The kadhai paneer was okay. The entrees come with a side of rice.
We tried the naan basket which was a mix of different kind of naans. Naans texture was very similar to what you get in North india. Really good!
Mango lassi was good as well!
The only thing I felt could be improved is the status of restrooms. The doors didn't close properly, were missing seat covers and could be kept more tidy.
Definitely recommend this place for good Indian Food!
