This place serves your typical pacific northwest fare. Localted inside the Pike Place Market overlooking the Sound this restaurant is aptly named. The place is very busy on weekends so prepare to wait for a few minutes.
We ordered the clam chowder and the farmers breakfast. Food is satisfactory.
Service is slow.
It was really crowded for Sunday lunch. Though it was hard to find seats for a party of 5, it was worth the lack of comfort.
The fish soups and clam chowders were amazing. The crab burger took a little too long to get to our table but it was large and tasty.
The view over the river was also a plus. Nice prices too.
This place really packs out at lunch time, but the sandwich I got was outstanding! I ordered a salmon sandwich that was much larger than I expected and reasonably priced. It was so big that my wife and I ended up splitting it. There is limited seating here, but everything is high quality fare. They have a salad bar, which being from out of town I did not realize was charged by the plate. I had grabbed a bit of potato salad and the lady who rang me out informed me of this, but as a courtesy she only charged me for an order of fries, which I was totally cool with. This seemed like my best choice at Pike Place Market, and I was very happy with the results! If you're willing to get carry out or wait for a table, you'll eat well here!
I found the view fantastic and the food a step above the average. The dungeness crab cake was the highlight of my Sea Platter ($19.43), with a nice sweet and delicious crisp that I loved, and while my
Killer view and great food. Salad bar is fresh and eclectic. Seafood soup hearty for a fall day!
Went for a walk through pikes place market and found this place .it is very clean well priced and friendly .you can sit and look out over the bay .well worth your time to stop in for good food
We like it. We live in Texas but were married on vashon. We come back annually and Sound view is our breakfast place at the market. Good food and view!
Good food. Overall a little pricy Nice views
Nice view. In a busy market area this place was a nice relief to stop in and have a meal and enjoy the view. I ordered the breakfast quesadilla - it was alright - nothing impressive in flavor or presentation. I also got a bowl of the Northwest Clam Chowder. It was a large bowl and very hearty with great flavors and definitey enough food to fill you up.
Morning Breakfast!. I was traveling to Seattle for work for about a day and half and I spent a morning walking around the Pike Place market, which alone is a must-see for those visiting! It was in the early morning, so I was craving a breakfast that would fill me up and keep me charged, other than eggs! I came across the Sound View Cafe, which is in this little nook that overlooks the entire water. It was a super cute place and I ordered what I thought was going to be a simple bowl of oatmeal. However, I'm a fan of oatmeal and I make it all the time, but this bowl of oatmeal had a definite two thumbs up from me. This large bowl of oatmeal came with raisins, slices of banana, and walnuts all perfectly proportioned in a bowl, topped with a bit of brown sugar! It was delicious! Do yourself a favor and have breakfast at this cafe at the Pike Place market. :)
We love this restaurant‘a location with views! Sitting by the window with famous clam chowder in bread bowl, topped with house Angus burger and beer! All dishes were delicious, the chowder with sourdough bread was very filling that you wouldn’t have room for anything - best to share if that’s an option. Warning - seating is tricky- self service/first come first served and there is always so many people waiting to grab a table. Plan to be patient if you really want the table by the windows.
Love this place, order first and then get a table, as they say trust the process!
Got waterfront view and the it’s really crowded! Servers will call out your name to look for you, very American movie vibes. Seafood chowder is perfect, creamy yet not greasy, and chicken quesadilla is highly recommended too!
Unexpected great taste! And servers are very friendly too!
Basically a New York diner with a relatively short list menu, serving breakfast all day with a gorgeous view of Elliott Bay. The cafe is easily missed if you're not looking for it, because it's not visible from the main cobblestone drive. Although it's located in close proximity to the famous fish throwing seafood market, you have to go in a little towards the "Sound", pass several gift vendors to find the entrance on the right. Considering Bidenflation, menu prices are still relatively affordable in the very expensive Emerald City and Pike Place Market tourist stop. Beware that Seattle has one of the highest, if not the highest sales tax rate in 🇺🇸. Credit card & cash accepted. Every table inside has a picturesque Puget Sound view. Unfortunately, there was a thick haze obstructing the waterview due to the current wild fire smoke. The food was very good. Nothing was salty, greasy or overly saucy. Clam chowder in the sourdough bread bowl was tasty but not salty. Ravioli with mushrooms was flavorful and a generous portion. Buttermilk pancakes were fluffy & spongy just the way I like 'em. Loco moko was flavorful & filling. View platter was perfectly prepared. Everything tasted delicious, generous portions, friendly & prompt service, good selection for a modest size menu. Only minor complaint was that the coffee was subpar, especially for Seattle. Highly recommended to tourists & locals alike. Support your local small businesses & restaurants 👍
The service was good, and I took some food recommendations from the cashier. I really like the clam shoulder and the view platter. I ordered a mocha, but it wasn't what I expected. It tasted more like a regular cup of coffee. The restaurant has a good view of the waterfront, and if you are lucky, you can get a table beside the window. Sometimes, it gets very crowded, so plan ahead if you want to get a good table.
Aundi was wonderful. She helped me order when I couldn't decide. Everything we had was delicious. The only thing better was the view!
Croweded space so ordered to-go of chicken alfredo fettuccine and cup of hot cocoa. The server was very nice and will ask your name and have you wait at the tables and bring the food to you. Good service and food 👌 😋
We ate a bit early for lunch (11am) and the line moved fast. The cashier was friendly and quick. The food was excellent (we had a burger, Soup, and kids Mac and cheese.) The restaurant asks that you to not hold a seat and to trust that a seat will open by the time you've ordered. They politely enforce this rule. One such customer ignored this rule and the staff nicely asked that they get in line to order like everyone else following directions. As a rule follower and a fan of social justice I was pleased at how they handled it. I would go back here. The view was good and it was not too loud, clean, and super tasty food. 5 stars.

A lot of hustle and bustle, but my wife and I got sat quickly and were served within 10 minutes of sitting down. We both ordered a breakfast croissant with turkey sausage. I ordered a mocha, and my wife ordered the chai latai with oak milk.
Everything tasted good, however my mocha all floated to the bottom so I had an entire mouthful of mocha when I got to the bottom. My fault though, because a spoon was given with the mocha, and I didn't bother stirring.
The sandwiches were delicious and the turkey sausage was delicious.
We may come back for lunch. Very fast service. Excellent atmosphere if you get sat next to the window or sit outside. Even though we were kind of sat inside away from the windows, the mountains could still be seen in the distance.
Everyone was extremely nice.
If you're looking for Clam chowder with some thickness to it then here it is. As we say in Scotland "it'll stick to your ribs" delicious. 2 very clean bowls. Thanks.
Excellent (pleasant and kind) service (from ordering with the cashier to receiving food from staff at my table). Water views were amazing on a sunny (yes, sunny!) Seattle spring morning! Seafood breakfast bowl (eggs over medium over potatos with salmon and prawns) was delicious!Thank you, Sound View Cafe, for being open and part of my Seattle travel adventures!
