So happy I made it in time for a spot at the bar for Chef's Omakase! The sushi chef's were so friendly and told us what each fish was as they were serving them. After 21 courses I was so full. This restaurant is pretty small so definitely try to go early since they are only open for a small window of time. I went on a Thursday evening around 6:30pm. Highly recommend!

Excellent quality sushi. I’d highly recommend this spot. Just make sure your credit card can take the hit! The staff are helpful and friendly. Reservations are essential, but they do have options for walk-ins (might need to wait though). Best bet is to arrive outside the dinner rush.

Seattle has a few establishments that sit at the top of the sushi hierarchy. Among them are places like Shiro, Nishino, I Love Sushi, Izumi, and a very few others. Sushi Kashiba deserves inclusion with this bespoke list. I went with the Omakase in order to sample the best that the chef has to offer, and was not disappointed. Selections included mackerel, sockeye, big eye and albacore tunas, geoduck, spot prawn, tamago, unagi, and more. Each was a perfectly fresh reason for entry into Seattle's sushi elite. I would strongly recommend a visit for anyone who wants to know what the best sushi is all about.

Great spot for a date. Table side omakase was pretty good but not the best in Seattle. Fish selection could have been better. It was solid but not a lot of premium pieces for the price. We considered the sushi chef bar but wanted a more relaxed experience for our first time. Apparently it’s just slightly different so doubt the selection was going to be much better. Maybe we’ll try next time!

Yes, they are expensive. But you should consider the whole experience. We only dined there once and it exceeded our expectation. Needless to say that their sushi and sashimi were all fresh and delicious. They could not be more authentic than that. Each and every staff was extremely courteous and professional. The service was exceptional. Towards the end of our meal, the owner came and checked with every customer to make sure that everything was right. You don’t see such a humble and thoughtful business owner very often these days. I have nothing but the highest respect for him.

This place is a sushi haven. I've had amazing sushi before; I lived in Japan for a few years and had some of the best sushi in my life in Hokkaido. This blew it out of the water. The freshness of the sushi is only matched by the precise perfected preparation of the fish. Some of the pieces we were treated to literally left me speechless. The worst thing about coming here is the knowledge that you'll never have a better bite of sushi. (And the hit to your wallet). The service was excellent. I'm left handed and as soon as I grabbed my chopsticks the first time, a waitress came over and corrected the arrangement of my placemat to work for me. They also were very knowledgeable about their beverages and able to suggest drinks that matched your preferences. We were seated at the omakase chef counter, and not only was it a delight to be able to watch their preparation and crafting of each piece of sushi, they were also extremely knowledgeable and happy to answer questions. They informed us where each piece of fish was sourced and how it was prepared (for example, they marinated their chutoro for a few hours). The masks do make it difficult to hear them sometimes, especially in a noisy restaurant unfortunately. Overall, this is an amazing place to go for the best sushi of your life. If you can afford it, you won't regret it! (It's $175 for the omakase chef counter and we got the extra premium slices as well so $205 before taxes and drinks. The premium slices are unquestionably worth it. Some of the finest cuts of fish in the world.)

Shiro Kashiba started Seattle's real sushi culture by pleading with local fishmongers to champion local fish and discoveries like Geoduck. You can try Shiro's but they still rely heavily on imported fish and are just not aa interesting. The sushi bar omakase here is top notch with dozens of unique nigiri in your meal flight with optional additions. Shiro himself will be found behind the bar on some nights if you're lucky to get seated in his section. He is constantly training another generation of sushi chefs coming through and their training is pretty good even if only with a couple of years of experience. The chefs aren't all Japanese but this is a good thing, you would not notice the difference in the nigiri itself which contains a balance of white fish, oily fish, tuna presented together so you can taste the contrasts in quick succession.

We were able to get seats at the counter for omakase. Service was excellent. I actually paid a bit more to have a few more pieces. Quality of the nigiri pieces were above par. Our chef was very accommodating. The price has gone up in recent years. No, this is expensive because it’s high quality fish not the cheap stuff you find at grocery stores. People should not come here if it’s too much for them in price.

Two years ago, I dined at this restaurant and chose a table seat to experience their omakase. It marked my first venture into the world of omakase dining. While it was an enjoyable meal, some of the dishes didn't quite align with my personal tastes or make a lasting impression. This year, I eagerly returned and joined the queue for the chef's counter, where I was fortunate to have Kashiba himself as the chef. This visit represented a remarkable departure from my previous table dining experience. The sushi was not only delicious but also featured impeccable rice and top-quality ingredients. The service was impeccable, enhancing the overall experience. Even though I typically struggle with the smell and taste of uni, the one served here completely blew my mind. It was devoid of any fishiness and possessed a creamy, buttery goodness. Additionally, one of the sushi pieces revealed an evolving array of ocean flavors as I savored it. The server's sake recommendation complemented the omakase wonderfully. In summary, having Kashiba as the chef elevated my omakase experience at the chef counter, leaving me thoroughly delighted. Undeniably, this was the best omakase I've had thus far.
