We had a great stay at the Marriott at McDowell Mountains. My only feedback would be that the rooms are in a need of an update, but what they needed in an update, they made up for in the service and main hotel spaces! Everyone was so friendly and kind, exceptional service. Dominick checked us in and when he found out it was our little one's birthday, he made it extra special and sweet. The gentleman at the main bar/dining was fantastic, the housekeepers were all so kind, the valet team - literally everyone. Location is great and overall, great stay!
Room was nice but seem a bit dated to us. We had dinner their and they messed up several things but took off 20%. Customer service was great!
In all honesty, we've stayed in 2 Marriott hotels locally in the Scottsdale / Dessert Ridge area in the past 16 months and they don't seem to be up to what I remember them back in the 1990s - early 2000s. For $350 per night I would expect a bit more. Having said that, we stayed at the JW Marriott in Cancun last May and it was awesome - best customer service I've ever experienced!
Parking plenty. Friendly staff. Quick check in. Gym and pools on sight. Meeting room if needed. Office space. Rooms clean and nice size. Kitchen stocked. Coffee maker. Living room with dining room for the 2 bedroom. Bathrooms are roomy and have body soap, shampoo, cream rinse and lotion available. TVs in all rooms. Beds are warm and comfy with lots of pillows. Walking trail. Gated community. Great place to stay.
I’m torn on this. The rooms were OK but there is a stench in the hotel that cannot be explained. The hallways smell old, and the catwalk between buildings smells wretched like BO or something dead. I did have a billing issue but it was cleared up after one phone call.
On to the Pros: service. The valet and restaurant/bar servers. Darlene is amazing! Her jalapeño
Margarita was phenomenal (and
I don’t drink tequila!) and I enjoyed a few during my stay. Breakfast was good and enjoyed by the kids. The lunch/dinner menu looked good as well although we weren’t able to eat there for those meals.
Good options in the snack bar area. Bed was comfy with a nice balcony facing the golf
course. If we are in the area again, I’m coming back to see Darlene - she literally made our trip! - and to have another of her margaritas!
If I have to return to this particular area of Scottsdale again, I'm 100% staying here. Unfortunately I can't remember everyone's name that helped but the bellman in the morning (African American) and the bellman in the evening (sleeve tattoos) were awesome as well as Glen at the front desk. I stayed a couple nights for business and it was very spacious and relaxing. The mattress was incredible I didn't want to get up. At night, the sand storm was coming through and I sat on the balcony eating popcorn and watching the lightning. Google won't let me upload a video from an iPhone unfortunately
Check-in process with seamless with the assistance of Dominic at the front desk he was awesome and we'll go far with Marriott if he decides to stay there truly amazing talent with Dominic. Whole property was very clean organized room view is excellent pool was nice and all staff throughout or excellent.
Comfortable and quiet. We had a room overlooking the pool area which was pretty busy on a sunny Friday, but our room was quiet. We didn’t even need the sound machine we normally use at hotels. The bed was excellent. We got a good night sleep and a delicious breakfast in the lobby restaurant. Our room had a view of the golf course and mountains in the distance.
We had zero issues here and the price was not bad.
Sue at the lobby restaurant was outstanding. She made me feel so welcomed. And her smile says it all. Ate breakfast.
Excellent stay at Marriott. Staff was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Very happy, will be back.
The food was incredible!! Chef Jose was on site on our visit and the dining experience exceeded our expectations. Natural, high quality ingredients and warm, welcoming service. A lovely surprise
