Best Indian Food in North Scottsdale. That really good Indian restaurant in the Phoenix area has eluded us - we've tried at least 10 that were supposed to be it. So this time no one recommended Al Hamra - it's just been on my way home for as along as it's been open. It was worth stopping - very good lamb vindaloo and a variety of other dishes that we tried. My wife liked the samosa but I was thinking 'so so'. All in all the chef has a fine touch and the food is very solid and well above average, although a bit pricey (as you might expect for the location). Recommended.

Great food. I have eaten at many indian places and this one is among the top. Service was great and the atmosphere is very nice. The food is very tasty and light. Two thumbs up.

Great food and the Naan bread was the best I've ever had. The curry dishes were just right with a good blend of heat.

We went here to try something different from the norm in Scottsdale. Everything is either Tex-mex, Italian, or a steak joint. Indian cuisine is a rarity. We are so glad that we did. The food was fantastic, and the service was, as well. However, the waiter was at our table too often. It was kinda weird. We were the only patrons in the restaurant when we got there. That typically worries me, but I'm glad that we stuck it out. The food was phenomenal. I'm not Indian, so I have no idea what is authentic and what is not. All I know is that I enjoy Indian food, and this place was good. The Tikka was spicy but not overpowering. You can order your spice level, which is typical. The only weird dish was the chicken kabob. It was kind of a mince meat. Funky. It's not my jam, but you may enjoy it. Everything else from the Tikka to the Naan to the lentils, the tofu was flavorful and seemed fresh. The wine list sucked, but not too many people are going to an Indian restaurant expecting an extraordinary wine list. Give it a try. You just might find that new favorite spot...

I may be too stuffed of delicious food to verbalize the deliciousness of the experience I just had. We think they may serve the best lentil soup we've ever had (3 peeps opinions), and it says it's organic! I can say that is the best garlic Naan I've ever had. Perfectly crispy, yet fluffy & thick, but still thin and nicely buttered with a reasonable amount of garlic. The rice was also perfect. The 3 entrées were completely devoured, and my friend said the lamb was cooked perfectly, and the chicken meat is all white meat. The service was great, and the establishment was very clean and classy. I look forward to returning.

We were traveling for business and we wanted some Indian food. We looked up this location and traveled to it. When we arrived, we were received with a warm welcome and shown to our seats. We then had a good discussion with the waiter. He recommended a few things and we took him at his word. It was all delicious. We had Lamb Makhani with a medium spice level and cilantro lime rice. We also had the Chicken Biryani with butter garlic naan bread. This is a place I would go back to again either on a business trip or for pleasure.

I’ve been searching for delicious Indian Food in the valley for years. I used to dine at my favorite Indian food restaurants in Los Angeles and I’ve been craving the flavors I used to love. After some trying and searching, I found Al Hamra and I was immediately impressed at the 1st bite. The garlic naan is amazing! Crispy , but still perfect for dipping and folding and just the perfect amount of fresh garlic. The chicken tikka masala was excellent! A perfect blend of seasons and the mild version I had was superb!! I will be returning many times!! I’m so happy I tried Al Hamra!

This is my favorite Indian restaurant in the Valley! I have ordered take out from here countless times and every single time it has been delicious. My family always starts with the Tandoori wings which are so juicy and flavorful. For the mains my favorites are the Dall, Paneer Makhani and the Chana Masala but everything I’ve had on their menu has been amazing. Don’t sleep on this place it is so so good!

I've eaten at over 100 Indian restaurants in the US, Europe, and Asia, including the top ranked restaurants in London, and Al Hamra N. Scottsdale is hands down the best of any I have visited. Their chicken makhani and lamb saag are amazing- just outstanding. I've never had a bad dish here. The only things I can fault are 1) the price is a bit high (though worth it) and 2) I'd like to see the owner be more social with patrons (I've seen him lurking around, but he never says hi). Anyone who is an Indian food aficionado needs to visit this restaurant.
