A reservation is recommended, though we probably didn't need one since we went about 6pm. The service was great, and the food came out super fast. It was nice to see some menu selections that were different from other sushi places. The cocktail was delicious. We also had a pot of green tea. Crispy calamari arrived super hot with Crispy panko breading. We had a spicy salmon roll and salmon sashimi-nigiri. Everything was fresh and tasty. Ambiance was nice. Trendy decor, no loud music blasting, dim lighting. We would go back for sure.
I was in Scottsdale and couldn’t decide what I wanted for lunch. I checked the area and Obon popped up. Really good reviews and the menu looked dope. Let’s try it.
I’m so happy I decided to come and try it out.
First off, the espresso martini was one of the best I’ve ever had. Silky smooth and full of coffee flavor.
The gyoza and were first. If they tasted great then I could go from there and order more food. They were packed with flavor and so delicate but had a really nice crunch. I’m sold. Let’s order more.
The Cali roll and bao buns were next. The fried chicken one was my favorite. Not overly sauced and not too spicy either. The right amount of everything.
The ramen was one of the best I ever had. Just sipping the broth you’ll know if you got a quality bowl in front of you. The pork slice was huge and I loved every bite.
Also the bartender was very pleasant to talk to.
I’ll be back here for sure the next time I’m over in Scottsdale. 🫶🏻
Delicious food with the drinks to match. I had a great lunch at obon complimented by delicious strawberry soju, fresh, inspired sushi and a warm and inviting bowl of Ramen. I recommend this spot to anyone in the area looking for sushi or ramen. Just be aware that prices are 20 dollars minimum currently.

The sushi, the ramen, the tempa veggies where awesome. Service was on point & has a very chill atmosphere about it. Cute set up & laid back with good tunes. Was not busy when I went but I also called ahead to reserve a table. Nice way to end a Sunday after service for me and plan on going back once a month. It was a lot and even brought what didn't finish home for leftovers later. 😁
Nice area and also found me a nice parking spot in the garage where I went to park just a couple of spots down the ramp going in.
Stopped in for some lunch and enjoyed a rainbow poke bowl, pork ramen and rainbow sushi roll. Everything was really fresh and flavorful. I’ll definitely be retuning for that poke bowl 🤩
Came in for Restaurant Week and found it wasn’t being offered at this location. 🤷🏻♂️. We stayed and the dishes were very good. Our server Dane, was very attentive, friendly and did great with descriptions and very honest suggestions which I appreciated. We ordered Thai-hers Blood margarita which was flavorful, smoky and a tang of spice. Pork Gyoza [fried] was juicy with great flavor and dipping sauce added another dimension. Crispy Tuna was superb. The crispy rice was chewy, yet tender on the inside and the Tuna had a perfect amount of sesame oil to compliment everything. Bird Bao was a little flavor bomb and the Nigiri was fresh and flavorful. The Tonkatsu Ramen was a tad bit salty, but the meat was tender and flavorful. Kanto Beef was tender, the broccoli rabe was steamed to perfection and the sauce gave the perfect amount of flavor without being sweet and over powering. Would defiantly come back and if you go ask for Dane!
We loved our dinner here. Had a nice sushi roll, delicious bao buns (fried chicken and spam) and heaping bowls of outrageous pork tonkotsu ramen. Seating indoors or out. Games on TV and wonderful service. Right in Old Town next to a convenient free parking garage.

The bestie and I walked in around 1 on a Saturday. The place didn't look as busy as a 20 minute wait warranted, but we were still told it'd be a 20 minute wait. Anyway, we sat down along a wall with two other parties on either side of us, while the other corner of the restaurant was completely empty. Other tables could have had reservations for them, so I'm not going to deduct any points because of that. I'm just saying it would've been a more enjoyable experience - conversation wise - if we weren't sharing a bench with other people.
However, that aspect was overlooked because the food was phenomenal! The bestie ordered the veggie ramen and I ordered the tonkotsu ramen. We also ordered crispy tuna and, safe to say, it's become one of our favorites if not our FAVORITE appetizer. It packed a nice flavor and the crispy rice was so soft, yet crispy lol. My friend loved her veggie ramen (coming from a girl who doesn't eat many veggies). I loved my tonkotsu ramen, and the portion sizes are great. The prices are steep, but it's worth it.
I just don't know how people eat thick slabs of pork with only a pair of chopsticks. I had to ask for a fork and I wish I had asked for a knife as well because I still looked like Dash from the Incredibles trying to eat his steak with only a fork (iykyk).
Anyway, everything was delicious and trust we will be back to try other items. And try their other location, which is closer anyway.
I've been going to Obon at SQ for years, staff is always friendly and well informed about the menu. Lots of good variety and some of the best sushi I have had in AZ. Service is always attentive but they get busy and the nature of the location leads to lots of folks stopping in for a quick meal but good food can take time, so we always try to be patient! Always looking forward to going back, last visit we sat inside but people watching on the patio is worth a return visit ASAP

Kyle, you were the roll, the best ever. Your charm and smile really made us feel at home. Shion your team work with Kyle was far superior compared to so many teams, you were awesome as well.I am so happy that we all chose this particular sushi place to enjoy our family dinner. Wasabi relish and the scallops were my all-time favorite although everything was fresh and delicious. I should’ve waited to review everything until after I ate the most delicious Blondie dessert, now I’m going to explode. We loved our experience. Thank you.
