Wanted to try something outside of our usual eats and found this Somali restaurant on a whim. I'm so glad that my husband and I decided to take a risk and try it out. The food is delicious! At first the price per plate was a little questionable, but once the plates of food came out it was a generous size and to top it off - the flavors and texture of food was out of this world amazing!! We will definitely be making another trip out there. A heads up that this is not a usual sit-in and order. You have to order first at the cashier and the waiter will bring out your food. Additionally, no air conditioning so you'll want to dress appropriately if it is warmer weather.

Wow, I just ran into this East African / Somali restaurant. It is not far from where I live but hidden in an out of the way area - you kind of need to know where to find it. It has a simple uncomplicated menu with a relatively small selection to choose from, and no specialty drinks to speak of. However, we got a Beef Suqaar and a Jubba Fish wrap. The spices used to cook the beef were excellent, I loved it ! The fish wrap was equally good, you can't go wrong with either. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would easily recommend this place for all you foodies out that, as well those who simply like good food.

Amazing first time having Somali cuisine, and I'll definitely be back someday. The Roasted Goat Cutlet meal and the Mandazi sweet bread hit the spot, although next time I'll ask for extra meat. I love the colorful seating and appreciate the friendly staff - oh, and the restaurant's against a light rail stop where I can watch trains! What more could an African-cuisine-seeking, color-loving train/transit enthusiast ask for?

A surprise tucked away in a small shopping center. Really tender meat and good portions in their specialty dish Beef Suquaar. We also had the tilapia fillets over rice. This came with mixed vegetables which were also well prepared and packed with flavor. I liked the flat bread with my beef but really oversized for the meal and will opt for rice next time. Overall really nice Somali meal for an affordable price.

Honestly, EVERY dish we tried was AMAZING. We got: 1. Sambosa--huge and flavorful 2. Beef steak with injera Somali bread (DELCIOUS) 3. Sports plate (meat combo plate) with chicken and goat cutlet. Both meats were finger-licking. We got a mix of the spaghetti and rice--both of which were super tasty but I like the rice more. Even though this place is far from where we live (45 min drive), I'm now looking for an excuse to be in San Jose again just to go back!! I want to try their fish next time as I hear it's amazing too. Only down side of the place is because of popular it is, it did get a little crowded and hence hot on the inside. AND (this is I give service 4 stars, they don’t give you water—you have to buy your own. So make sure to come with a huge water bottle). But the owners are so chill they let some customers bring tables outside to eat 👏🏽

Our first time having Somalian food and it was so delicious! We've had injera before at other Ethiopian and Eritrean restaurants, so that's one similar item. The goat was highly recommended and it did not disappoint. The wrap was huge and full of large chunks of well seasoned chicken. Amazing. One plate is good for sharing between 2 persons because of the large portion size. The spiced herbal tea is great and keeps you warm while you wait for your food. However, I only wish there was better ventilation in the restaurant. There seemed to be a lack of air circulation from the kitchen and our clothes ended up smelling greasy and like BBQ after dinner. But overall, a great meal and will definitely come again if I'm ever in San Jose!

I live nearby but only came because my friend read about it in SF Chronicle. The place is next to VTA station so plenty of parking. We came when it just opened for lunch, so everything was made fresh. We ordered the sports plate, which is quite a good deal: 2 meats, 2 carbs and 2 side salads. We had the beef, chicken, rice and pasta. It was delicious, which a different spice profile than Ethiopian or Senegalese food that I’ve had before. We also ordered a bunch of sides to try, and they are all good too. Injera was more crepe like and less sour than the Ethiopian version; mandazi was light and puffy like a popover; my favorite was the sambusa: thin dough fried golden and crispy, stuffed with spicy ground beef and green peppers. The food is spicy, not hot. I can taste warm spices such as cinnamon or cloves. There is free tea too, warm spicy and sweet. I will bring my husband next time.

as good as this. Living on my own, working long hours in the hospital, sometimes I just crave a homemade meal. No restaurant gives me that “home-cooked” meal feel, but Jubba did. I absolutely love their food. It’s flavorful, always cooked right, served hot, and the portions are so filling (sometimes I even am able to get full and save the rest for the next day). I ordered the chicken suqqar and my husband got the beef suqqar. We also got the sambosas, which I usually am not a fan of at restaurant because it’s always doused in oil and seems pre-fried. There’s was so fresh. You can tell everything is cooked to order and not just sitting there. I’ll be back again and again. It was also nice seeing families and kids dining on their porch, the ambiance was fantastic. If I can give more than 5 stars I would.

Very low-key place but with high key flavors! Haven't had much east African food before so this was something I was looking forward to. I didn't know what to get because it all looked pretty good so the woman recommended the chicken suqaar, and maybe I can try the beef next time 😏. The food wasn't too spicy, but the flavors were 🤌🏾. They have complimentary tea in the back, and quite a bit of parking available around the area so you don't have to worry about that.
