First place in the States where I’ve had soda not tasting chlorine! And the food was just AMAZING. The charbroiled chicken was cooked to perfection, and the vegetables was not too tender, just the way I love it.
We shared a five layer cake for dessert.
The portions are huge, so next time we’ll share one.
The staff was super friendly and our waiter; Frank, has ‘it’. The charm, friendly energy and was very service minded.
Some comment the service is a bit slow, and I’d have to agree, but it is very much worth the wait. Even the tap water tastes great, and I’m hard to please in that manner.😂
This place is busy all the time. It is a local spot that is packed every night. Get there early or you're going to have a hard time finding a place to sit. The food is not bad, it's not the best I've ever had but it's good. The ravioli there is not bad. Drink. Prices are a little expensive but that's downtown San Jose for you. I don't blame this restaurant. The atmosphere is interesting because this is a very old restaurant so you can see motifs from the 50s and '60s. Overall a good place.
Good food, great service but the table there are so small, not good for group of people, if you are under 6, they sitting you at a small table whatever available. Recommended group from 2 - 4, or just size up to 8 to 10 to get bigger table.
Our server Chris won my business! He was quick, professional, thoughtful, and was able to create a memorable dining experience by adding commentary at the perfect times. I'll be bringing my family when I want to celebrate a special day. Thanks Chris, and the rest of the staff assisted as well! The food was flavorful, and the environment was warm.
My go to for big meaty meals in San Jose. Lots of steak, sandwich and pasta dishes, as well as other meals. The meals are always large and delicious. I just with they had smaller steak sizes for all their streaks.
Had an old school feel to it. My prime rib was a good prime rib on par with other places in same price point. Very noisy hard to hold a conversation. Service was good. Cocktails were excellent. Get there early or you will wait a bit for a table
Always a go to favorite. Always busy but worth the wait. This has been my younger daughter Bella and I's daddy daughter date go to for 10 years. Ive been coming since I was a freshman at San Jose State in 1990. Love this place.
The classic is still open and doing a brisk business at least during my visit on a Wednesday evening. It had been over a decade since my last stop at original Joe's and now dating back 50 plus years as a family favorite. Prices have gone up do not expect a bargain meal but you don't feel cheated with the value and the size of the portions. Excellent service continues through the generations of staff. Prime rib was solid disregard many of the comments you might see here about gristle and poor quality there was nothing wrong with this piece of meat.
Excellent old-school kind of place. Great vibe and cool staff. The “Rib Steak” is a monster of a piece of meat. So good.
Several friends and I came here to have food and drinks before a comedy show across the way.
It was really packed, especially since it was a Saturday.
We had the calamari strips ($16.95 - Huge serving for 4-5 people, or a meal in its own), prawn cocktail ($19.95 - Maybe five-six large prawns), and garlic bread ($6.95 - Maybe for three people) to start. All solid appetizers.
I ordered the broiled salmon with a side of vegetables ($31.95). I could not believe how large the salmon was! Other places I've been to are a fraction of what OJ's served, and it was cooked perfectly.
It gets pretty noisy, so plan on that if you come here on a busy Saturday.
Everyone from little kids to grandparents were at the restaurant, from birthday celebrations to watching football games on TV at the bar. It's a very lively place.
Our server Amber was the best! She made sure we had everything we needed and always checked in on us.
