What I really like here is the bread. It's heavily seasoned and nice and toasty. The mission is one of my favorites. It comes with pepper jack cheese and japapenos. They also have a special combo called the thanksgiving which is pretty tasty too. Their corn tortilla soup is really good and perfect for dipping. Skip the bean soup it's not very good. If you want to add extra toppings get the mushrooms! Everything is a little pricey, but once in awhile it really hits the spot.
The melt was my first introduction into grilled cheese as an adult. As a kid, I had sworn off all types of melted cheese but, wow, I was missing out. The Melt is a great place to grab lunch on the go or on a work day. While a little pricey for grilled cheese, the variations they offer make the price worth it. Their grilled cheese and soup combos are perfect for a cold day in the city - my favorite is the Italian with wonderful crispy parmesan bread and gooey cheese along with a classic tomato soup. Not necessarily a destination restaurant but great if you're looking for something fast and yummy.
What do you expect from a quick grilled cheese place? This place does what it does well. And is great if you're in a quick fix for comfort food. It may not blow you away, but the staff is friendly, the service is quick and the soups are paired perfectly with their sandwiches.
I wish I could eat here every day but of course, my arteries won't let me. The food is fatty yet absolutely delicious and simple. Love their sweet corn tortilla soup! It's a little pricey but the atmosphere is nice and all the packaging is compostable. Kudos!
When I worked in this area, The Melt was on of my go to lunch spots. The staff was friendly and worked very quickly. I always got a soup and sandwich combo with fresh lemonade.
Tip: This location gets really packed during lunch so go a bit early or later than the normal lunch hours. The lemonade also sells out very quickly, but make sure to ask the staff if they have more. Sometimes they have hidden cups in the fridge.
Recent development: cheeseburgers. We had the Mission Burger, very nice, with the classic fries. The outdoor seating is pleasant enough when not outright raining to observe the worker bee swarms on a weekday. The kegbot-style controls on the soft drink dispenser are fun
i love the sandwiches here !! ughhh theyre sooo yummy. i always order the grilled cheese and the soup here and the bread is so toasty and crunchy but the cheese is nice and goo-ey and thick. so delicious. the soup is thick and savory and the price is reasonable !! definitely reasonable for the quality of the food.
Is there anything better than grilled cheese? I will tell you what is better -- a mac n cheese grilled cheese! You'll find this on special at The Melt so I recommend becoming a regular there so you don't miss it when it's on special. The entire menu is great though and I go every Wednesday (almost). I really like this place. Got the thanksgiving combo and it was a really great idea. You wouldn't think turkey and cranberries in work in a grilled cheese but it does. Also, the sweet corn tortilla soup was a perfect pairing with the grilled cheese.
This is my go-to place to eat during my lunch hour at work when I want affordable food that is also tasty. They give you free bacon and tomato on your sandwiches if you request it. I've tried everything on the menu and have enjoyed most of it. They're also fairly quick.
