Udon and tempura is amazing! The atmosphere is just like Japan.
However they were advertising if download Marugame app they will provide $5 discount. As I download and add the information requested, it turns out the coupon arrives 24 hours later…
Very quality udon. Very chewy. The broth is also amazing. The best part is…it’s super cheap. If you just want the udon + broth, it’s only around 6 bucks, making it one of the cheapest meals in sf. Tbh I prefer the plain ones over the beef/curry ones. The beef/curry are too sweet for me. Btw Don’t skip out on the tempura. Prob the best in sf.
Overall, highly recommend. I recently came back from Japan and the udon is comparable to the best ones in Tokyo.
Hidden mall gem! Great selection and portions. Very quick service and good for groups (plenty of seating). Only sticking point is that Google maps takes you to the back parking lot for no reason - just park in front.
Solid udon spot. Noodles are very smooth and thick, and the beef broth/sauce is very flavorful. I prefer my udon thinner, but that's just my preference.
Very easy and convenient ordering system with self service tempura. Great spot for a light and casual meal.
Really good value for money. I got the gyudon, which I couldn't finish, and my partner got the large nikutama bowl with some tempura on the side. Everything was fresh and tasted really good.
I was excited for this place when it opened in SF. I’ve tried the Hawaii location numerous times and SF just falls short by 1 star. It just tastes different but still good! The tempura add ons definitely adds to the bill. Long lines during peak hours but after 3pm on a Sunday and there was no line.
Delicious udon noodles, tempura, shrimp, awesome selection. We love this place for the dishes and recipes. Absolutely perfect way to enjoy delicious noodles - Udon at their finest.
Generally I like to get kake udon (the cheapest, plainest noodle soup) and just get a lot of tempura on the side. I really enjoy adding the onsen (soft boiled) egg too. Noodles are fairly bouncy and the tempura is generally crispy and good, though sometimes they aren’t hot. Overall, a great choice for mall food.
The best noodles!
There can be a line here sometimes, so try to come right before lunch or before dinner.
They have many noodle bowl options and a couple rice bowl options.
There are tons of tempura options from your classic Shrimp and veggies to squid and others. You get the tempura à la carte and pay per individual piece.
They also have a really good Calamansi-ade!
Pretty good udon place, that is more expensive than it was a few years ago. The udon I got was a bit soft, not sure if it was just a bad batch, but the broth flavor and beef was good. The tempura options were also plentiful and fun to choose your own.
