I had heard about this restaurant on a tv show a few years back and always wanted to check it out. i made my reservation as soon as i knew i was going to be flying into town. It was an amazing dining experience. All of the wait staff is blind. You are in total darkness. They bring your food to you and you put your hand on the edge of the table for them to find and give you the plate. You have a great meal and a new respect and understanding for people that are visually impaired. It is a must for anyone that ever has the chance to go. I saw some reviews about the price being too expensive, but i believe the experience is worth way more than the meal. Money well spent. And i would like to give a special thank you to Moca our waitress for the evening. You were great.

My GF took me here for a surprise Bday dinner. It was so awesome. I had never done anything like this before but I am so glad we went. The hostesses were really nice and prepared us for what was to come. I really respect that all the servers there are either blind or visually impaired. I think it provides them with a great employment opportunity. I was not expecting the food to be as good as it was, but for the price it definitely needs to be that good. I had steak and veggies which were delicious. Thankfully they cut the steak for us… I would recommend everyone to try eating in a darkened restaurant at least once.

I thoroughly enjoyed the novel experience of dining in the dark. It was delicious fun solving the mysteries of my food and wine. The protocol is to read menus and order in the vestibule and then proceed to the darkened dining room for the meal. Many mistakes were made between the order and the presentation of the food, but the waitress confirmed things as she brought them out so we could detect and correct all the errors; this was done in such a way as to honor food restrictions without compromising mystery items.

I gave this place Decor "excellent" since you can't really see anything! It was really an indescribable experience and I recommend everyone try at least once with a group of friends/couples ( It was really fun going with a group). I was really freaking out at first since it was really pitch black and I panicked. Definitely try the mysterious courses so you get to guess what you are eating. I've got most right but was so wrong with the drinks! And I was the only one at the table who closed my eyes through the entire meal !

Opaque was such a breath of fresh air. It's basically a dining experience in complete pitch-black darkness. When you first enter the restaurant, at the lit small foyer, the host explains how the restaurant works. This is where you will also make your dining choices. The choices are pretty normal/American (you could choose a mystery dinner, but that's really just some normal fine dining food whose main dish you just don't know). Afterwards, a blind waitress picks you up and guides you to your table in a pitch-dark basement. There, for the rest of the evening, you dine on a 3-course meal. It's a really, really cool experience. Reminds me of the "Dialog in the Dark" museum in New York. It's fun to try to eat in the dark - one has to memorize where you put down the bread and the wine glass, etc. The food itself was actually very good. I didn't expected great food, as I thought that people just go here for the gimmick (they do), but the mostly American food turned out to be pretty tasty. Overall, I think it's really cool experience that one should do once -- albeit at $100/person base price, I think it's overpriced.

Fantastic experience! I decided to try this restaurant even though it had very mixed reviews on yelp regarding the pricey cost vs. average food. I totally thought the food was far from average. Dining visually impaired really heightened my senses and everything I tried tasted heavenly. All of the servers are blind or visually impaired so your being guided through the experience by true professionals!

This was truly a unique experience, that for me, made me appreciate my sight. I enjoyed the fact that I mostly needed to use my hands in order to find where my food is, plus, the food tasted amazing. Our waiter, George, was exceptional, very nice guy with a great personality.

We had a great experience at Opaque! You will be dining in complete darkness. I recommend doing the mystery meal so you don't know what you are going to get. Highly recommended to tourist and family's with older kids.

Lots of fun! Unique experience. Obviously not the kind of thing you do frequently but great for a special occasion or for treating your more adventurous friends. Worth checking off your "bucket list".
