Globe was an absolute life-saver for me last summer when I was wandering around the city at night trying to find something to eat that wasn't fast food. I had just finished performing in a show in the Financial District and unfortunately a lot of places in the area close by 9 or 10. My boyfriend and I used our iPhones to try to search for places that looked good, but we ended up either JUST missing the kitchen cut-off time or at a place that looked more like a dance club than a restaurant. Finally, we found ourselves at Globe thanks to the recommendation of a Hyatt hotel employee and we couldn't have been happier. The menu is not extensive, but what they have is great. I believe we were presented with the "late night" menu. We ordered the macaroni and cheese and a pizza with lamb sausage. The macaroni and cheese was very creamy and comforting. It was a stovetop style dish rather than a baked mac and cheese, so it had that nice saucy texture. I don't believe the lamb sausage pizza is on the menu anymore, but it was to die for so if they bring it back I would definitely suggest it. The sausage was a bit spicy and the crust was nice and crisp. I do remember it being a bit salty, but that's kind of what I was looking for at midnight. I went on another occasion with some friends from the show I was in and we again got the Macaroni and Cheese, some Brussels Sprouts, and a Mushroom and White Truffle Oil pizza since one of my friends is a vegetarian. Everything was delicious, but I think they were a bit heavy-handed with the truffle oil. Most of the time, truffle oil is artificially flavored so if there is a lot of it the taste can get a bit unpleasant. Everything else was great, so I'm not going to hold it against them. Globe also has a little bar area where they serve wine and beer. Again, the menu isn't huge but there are some really great finds like Bear Republic's Racer 5 and a nice Brut Cuvee for only $10. The atmosphere at Globe is also very serene. The lighting is on the dim side and there are candles everywhere which contributes to a relaxed vibe. The wall art is kind of funky and it reminds me of some place you might stumble into in downtown Manhattan. I believe the kitchen is open until 2am, so the staff was perfectly happy to fire up mac and cheese and pizza after midnight. I will definitely be returning to Globe and I suggest you visit as well if you are looking for a great place to get some tasty, comforting food in the financial district.

Great for high quality late night dining. A lot of chefs come here after they've gotten off their own shifts. The food is wonderful and it's fun watching them cook through the open wall to the kitchen. Remember it for after the theater, ballet, or other shows. Special "farmer's menu" offers a great 4 course dinner on Sundays. Love the duck pappardelle, short ribs, roast chicken, and halibut in a salt cod broth which truly bowled me over. Really, all their fish dishes have been superb, that one was just particularly unique and memorable. Washington oysters with a nice and light mignonette to start. The tuna tartare is simple, with buttery tuna chunks. The addition of a dollop of olive tapenade is unexpected and welcome, adding a tart, salty kick. The macaroni side is meh. The Tillamook cheddar sauce is one note and bland, and the choice of rigatoni doesn't work for me. Good soups and desserts.

Second great dining experience at Globe in the past month or so - had the pork belly entree and the mushroom pizza - both cooked perfectly - also had a tuna tartare appetizer and a side of kale and the chocolate mousse dessert - excellent.

Tuna tartare was very good. Salmon with pasta was tasty, but the pasta was a bit unwieldy. Cocktails are OK. It's cold in here.

Casual atmosphere, decent tuna tartare and rib eye steak. Certainly a very good choice, although no one aspect was particularly amazing.
