The salmon and tuna were standouts here.
All the fried dishes (spicy popcorn chicken, the mushroom fries, and the katsu with chicken) were pretty mediocre. Heavy, not good meat.
The menu was confusing, we wanted chicken katsu but misread and got a chicken egg over rice dish instead. Luckily, the staff was accommodating of our mistake and swapped out the dish.
Incredible! One of the best sushi places I’ve ever been- selection and quality is outstanding. Service was so friendly and helpful and even brought us variations of uni without asking which thought was a beautiful touch! Thank you!!!
Had tuna sashimi selection, uni sushi, miso soup, wakame salad, cucumber and shrimp salad, and T-Dragon roll. Can’t fault a thing! Delicious, not over flavoured or over salted.
All the sashimi was fresh and proper.
The sushi rolls , ikura and uni were good.
My boyfriend and I love it here! We get nigiri or sashimi samplers or chirashi bowl and you can taste the quality. The server is really sweet and helpful. Great place for a delicious dinner in sf.
This is the best sushi restaurant that never gets mentioned. The fish is always super high quality and fresh and they have likely the best deal/quality ratio for their Chirashi bowl. Service is always so quick and with a smile. Intimate vibes.
One of the very few Japanese sushi restaurants with a lot of veggie dishes: Udon with mushroom broth, fried avocado, and much more. Everything was delicious.
Indoor space is a little tight. Highly recommend sitting at the bar.

Great place. It’s a little tight inside. Kind and friendly service. Jalapeño poppers fried was delicious. Has some small kick. I like spicy. The beef teriyaki steak was good. Tried the stout beer and it’s good, not to strong of a taste. Wife and I love the salad dressing. Great feel on the inside. Darker on the inside but relaxing.
Nice little place on my beloved 24th street which never disappointed! Their sushi are so delish and big that we used to order less than in other places just to avoid overeating (: I love Kazans’ soothing semidarkness which adds the ambiance. And attentiveness of their stuff as well as quality and speed of work of the kitchen. Always recommend this place to those who craves for sushi at reasonable prices in SF
I had a truly excellent meal here. The sushi is very fresh, obviously expertly selected by the chef and exquisitely prepared. Each piece was more delightful than the last! The menu of Nigri is really exciting (multiple kinds of toro!). I loved being able to taste multiple cuts of the same fish & compare them. Nice selection of sake as well. Service was excellent, attentive & helpful. This is not an inexpensive restaurant, but it's in line with the quality delivered, without question. If you're looking for an elevated sushi experience, Kazan is your destination.
