Rare to give an establishment 5/5, but this place is college's best kept secret. Upon walking in, you're greeted by a host/bar tender, entertainment of the night, as well as friendly smiles from the kitchen staff. Luckily this night there was a lively band paying out front. Greeted by name, without even checking in, what magic do they possess?
Foodwise: anything cebiche is fire. Authentic Peruvian flavors , delicate fresh fish with citrus, I see why words like tantalizing were invented. Although not a full bar, the bar tender makes magic with what they have , the pisci sour was everyone's favorite .
Mains: get the chicharon, it's fatty, it's crispy, it's umami.
Octopus well cooked with a Peruvian mint , and the highlight aside from the cebiche was the taku taku (seafood medley ) that will keep you satisfied.
Best Peruvian restaurant I've been to , twas the service that made me feel we were eating in someones home .
PS: yucca fries are perfectly cooked, don't skip on those badboys
My daughter was in town and went there. The next day I asked her what kind of food she'd like. She wanted to go back.
A stellar Peruvian restaurant with some of the most amazing tastes I've experienced in a long time. The pickled yams, the mushrooms on top of the crab cakes, other little things just added to the overall courses...WOW. A wide variety for all tastes. And the service...stellar!!! Such nice people who really care about their food, service and customers. I can not wait to go back again.
Loved both the food and service. Menu has several authentic Peruvian dishes and cocktails were well made too. Service was very good as well. Overall I’d recommend this place for dinner.
All the dishes we ordered were very delicious. The meat portion was huge and all the flavors were well balanced. Cocktails were tasting too. Plus the service was fast and the servers are attentive and welcoming too. It’s also in a really cute neighborhood and it’s fun to walk around.
This quaint little place on Cortland has the coziest vibe! The inside is like a small home dining room, and the outside parklet they have made extremely warm and comfortable!
The stars of our dinner were the tapas. We LOVED the pork spare ribs, the púlpito and the Pastalito de Choclo. Our entrees were also very good, but neither my husband or I thought outstanding. The ají de gallina was a nice, comfort meal — but we were hoping for a little more spice from the sauce. The Peruvian paella was excellent. It was full of a variety of fresh seafood, all well cooked. My husband finished dinner with the Alfajores — cookie sandwiches filled with Dulce de Leche. Those too were very good!
The service was excellent, and had great recommendations. We will definitely be returning to try the Lomo Saltado and the other tapas we didn’t order.
Nice, not crowded. We sat outdoors. Food was fresh and DELICIOUS!! Staff was attentive and helpful. Choices were great. 2 of us, we shared dishes* and had a great lunch w /dessert!! all after we went on a good hike up and down the hill starting from the mid Mission. My rating on scale of 1 to 5, this last being superb. *Ceviche Mixto r4, with crunchy plantain chips, included great combo of calamari, white fish. other fish, shrimp w/ awesome corn kernels of all kinds!. Side of Yucca r5, good size, with parmesano cheese shavings crunchy outside, soft inside, wonderfulness!. Fusion Peruvian Empanada ◇ with chicken! r5+ amazingly! one serving was of good size for us to split and feel content! We also splitted a large sparkling bottled water. It's to commend the fact, that this was served, each glass with cut of lime!.
And to end dessert!!! omg! l normally wouldn't have dessert for lunch but having hiked, the guilt was over! the r5. with a taste of port and a delicious cream it was called Suspiro a la limeña, must try!.Thank you! Chef! whomever you're, you made two of us foodies, very Happy!.
Exquisite tastes and aromas in every detail! I wish we had taken photos but we were so happy to eat. Courteous service with pleasant and well protected outdoor seating on a quiet street, with lovely light Peruvian background music. It is a wonderful place for a relaxing lunch. We will be back to graze down the rest of the menu.
We went back for dinner 😀
This was our first dining experience in SF after pandemic restrictions lifted and we have been back several times since. There are more expensive Peruvian places in the city but none better. The guests we bring are always impressed with the food and service.
I was taken here for a late birthday dinner. We went on a Wednesday. It happened to be a slower night for them. We ordered sangria to start off with and then appetizers such as the hongos and chicharron de pollo. Both were excellent. We had the avocado with salad on top.
For our entries we had the lomo Salado and the churrasco. Both were so delicious. To end it we had a flan like dessert with their cookies. Amazing dinner and I didn't realize they are connected to Mochica. Another place that I love.
Willing to give it a second and third try.
