Latino food in the US come in so many varieties! This is one of the better twists so far! Recepies are consistent and portions are huge! At least my favorite Chicken Tostada Salad!!
Recent twist to soicy is the best! Love spicy!!
Very delicious- fast service too!
I had the grilled chicken nachos, with black beans. Yum! Super huge portion! Hubs and mom both had a burrito and picky kiddo had the quesadilla. The guac was very tasty! Probably one of the top guacamoles that I've had.
Terrific Mexican food! Delicious tacos, especially the mushroom and chicken ones. Chips and guac are also reasonable. Horchata is a bit too sweet for my taste
Restaurant has a bright and fun ambience
“Alright, fellow San Franciscans and adventurous visitors, listen up! If your taste buds are screaming for some Mexican cuisine with a twist, Little Chihuahua breaks the mold and deserves your attention. This isn’t your typical taco shop; it’s a haven for carnivores, vegans and anyone looking to spice things up. Here’s why it’s a standout:
This place has a great menu made with fresh ingredients and has a vegan-friendly menu that’ll even make your meat-loving uncle raise an eyebrow in curiosity.
My customized gluten-free, wet, soy chorizo burrito with black beans and sautéed mushrooms, was epic! But beware, it’s as big as a baby seal – I managed to finish mine, but it was a close call and my girlfriend was impressed.
Now, it’s a bit pricier than your usual taqueria – we’re talking two tacos, a burrito, and a can of wine for a cool $50. So maybe check your piggy bank first. And a hot tip: my burrito was not as warm as I would have liked. I wanted the experience of sunny California, not the foggy side of the Golden Gate!
In all, I’m giving Little Chihuahua a solid four and a half stars. It’s a gem, but just like our city, it’s not perfect. Still, definitely worth a visit!”
1. Vegan Fried Plantain - This dish is a game changer. It’s not just the crispy, sweet plantains that’ll get you; it’s the perfect mix of roasted bell peppers, fresh pico de gallo, and smoky chile salsa that brings this dish to life. A true fusion of flavors!
2. Grilled Veggie & Soyrizo - Think you know soyrizo? Think again. Paired with roasted cauliflower, grilled corn, poblanos, and onions, this dish elevates the humble soy chorizo to new heights. It’s a symphony of smoky, spicy, and savory that’ll have you rethinking vegan options.
3. TLC Regular - Simple but extraordinary, featuring the freshest pico de gallo, crisp cabbage salad, and that signature smoky chile salsa. It’s the kind of dish that makes you appreciate the beauty of fresh, quality ingredients.
4. Make it Super - For an extra $2, you can add a protein punch to your meal. Choose from soy chorizo, grilled vegetables, wild mushrooms, or even vegan beans (pinto or black, refried or not). It’s customization at its finest, and a dream for those who love to mix and match.
5. Tortilla Choices - They’ve got everyone covered. Flour, whole wheat, and even gluten-free options (for a small extra charge) ensure that no one misses out on the goodness.
In a city like San Francisco, where culinary innovation is the norm, Little Chihuahua stands out with its commitment to vegan-friendly, creative Mexican cuisine. It’s a place where traditional flavors meet modern dietary needs, all wrapped up in a warm tortilla. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you!
If could give this place more than 5 stars would! have tried their amazingly spiced soyrizo, salmon, plantain and bean tacos, burrito bowls, burritos and everything is delicious! This review is valid for fresh food - I'm not a fan of takeout, a lot of the flavor is somehow compromised in takeouts from this place.
Food:
- My special favorite is the soyrizo - embracing a vegan option as a Mexican food joint already makes TLC rare, and then spicing up the soyrizo beautifully just makes TLC the unbeatable Mexican food choice for me.
Unique selling points:
- they have delicious vegan options - they use organic ingredients - have a wonderful salsa bar
Another great thing about TLC is that it is situated next to an amazing shaved ice cream place called Powder! These are our go-to dinner/dessert spots! So lucky to be situated so close to TLC!
I love this place’s Al pastor burrito! So delicious and a great balance of sweet and savory. I also LOVE their salsa bar! :)
Excellent food overall. Had the breakfast burrito and added carne asade. Picture is of Kale salad, chicken tostado salad, and steak & shrimp diablo burrito. All muy bueno.
Really enjoyed our lunch over here. My wife wasn't even hungry but she and I really dug in the loaded nachos. They were layered with toppings unlike other places that just actually just top it. It was sinfully delicious. My enchiladas were a suggestion by the delightful host that were 2 different sauces over 1 tofu and 1 mushroom enchilada. Perfect taste and preparation. A happy satisfying experience.
Big fan of the plantain and black bean burrito! Even more delicious when topped with all the great choices in the salsa bar. Recently tried the sparkling limeade and uhm...YUM! This is a great spot for take-out or a quick bite.
Amazing fried plantain and black bean burrito. One of the best vegetarian options in the area. Try the spicy sauce if you like it hot. Set in a hygienic and clean store. The portion size is perfect and overall a great meal spot.
A great small place for a quick meal, amazing staff and food, will be back here soon!!
Generally I go for the burrito here, but I tried the tacos the other day and was quite impressed, I think they might actually be better than the burritos! Little Chihuahua is one of my favorite quick Mexican places in SF. It fills the niche that is healthy(ish) and light burrito, while not cutting back on flavor.
