As soon as you walk in you're hit overwhelming smell of glorious bread.
I ended up here after just wandering the streets and exploring stepped inside and the smell kept me in.
Nice staff.
I originally just wanted bread and jam but they stop serving that at 5pm
Ended up ordering daily pizza with a dark chocolate cookie and ice tea.
Very delicious. The pizza was amazing.
Very good! Been there a few times and always tasty and the staff have been very nice. Always crowded too! Unfortunately... The only critique I have at this time is that the delish yogurt and granola could use some fruit alongside!
Was visiting SF from Iowa and had a hard time finding a good coffee shop. This place made the cut though. The atmosphere was perfection, food was pretty good (we got the trout toast, ham croissant, tomato croissant). Highly recommend coming here (& if you’re being a tourist walk over to Alamo Square and sip your coffee and enjoy the views.)
The open bakery makes wonder bread as well as a few pastries and breakfast items.
I was staying with friends in the area and needed coffee and was up early. Fortunately a bakery is always open early.
There are a bunch of small tables, well spaced and a large communal one near the center. Your order from the counter which is adjacent to the bread rack, it’s hard to resist. If you get there early as I did, the bread will still be warm.
I ended up getting a coffee and a avocado toast which I kid you not was on the thickest slice of bread I have ever seen. It was almost 1.5” tall (40mm) but it was delicious!
I ordered the California Gold loaf which is delicious!
Great place. many people work there on laptops. delicious food and drinks. There is free water, and if you come with your own mug, they give you a discount on the drink. For meetings to talk it was a little noisy. but you can sit outside
I’m not a bread person. I think most “fancy”/“hipster” bread places are meh. However, The Mill has the best bread I’ve tasted and some of the best bread plate dishes. So much flavor and texture. I always have a ‘Ratatouille’ movie moment with every bite.
Every time I’m in SF, I stop by get some bread, and have a toast.
I actually came here to attend a bread making class. Overall I loved it. Bread is delicious. Class helped fill in gaps in my own process that I didn't realize I was missing. It was super informative. Highly recommend
My daughter took me to The Mill a few days ago. We went back today. They carry Josey Baker Bread as well as an array of delicious pastries. I'm hooked on the Plum Pistachio Crumb Cake. They make a nice oat milk cappuccino too. The ambience of the restaurant is warm and welcoming. November 2023 update: I took a friend from Amsterdam to The Mill last week and we ordered savory items. I had Egg in a Hole and she had the Smoked Trout on Toast. Both were cooked to perfection and flavorful. The cappuccinos were beautiful.
Lovely spot, great service, delicious food and coffee and a great atmosphere.
Their sourdough is very good indeed.
Although you expect a better service, food is good and coffee is excellent. Toast with interesting options. Also good pastries
Very cute and welcoming. Can get packed. Limited seating.
Took a pizza cooking class here today. It was a lot of fun. Great environment and people, and we learned a few things about cooking pizza along the way. Had some expresso and enjoyed the coffee shop before the class. The bread here is amazing. They mill their own fluor and bake their own bread daily. Will definitely be back.
