A well curated dining experience with a fantastic, eclectic staff and beautiful dishes. The prix fixe is well balanced, with a great mix of fish, meats, but also pastas and vegetables. A must try!

Been here like a dozen times. Food is always solid here. The food selection is sometimes small. It is usually difficult to get a reservation here but they recently added outdoor seating that I think now or is easy to get a table here. They changed the menu to a family style prix fix menu, which is interesting. The food was solid. It is very odd that I had to keep asking for serving spoons and sharing plates and it was hard to get them and I had to wait for them a number of times during one meal.
Just moved back to SF after 3 years away and this place remains one of my favorites in town. Warm, knowledgeable and passionate service, amazing food with seasonal ingredients all in an intimate and beautiful space. So lovely!
This place is a local favorite. Food is fantastic, but reservations need to be planned way in advance. They do have a few spots bar seating for walk-ins though. Highly recommended!

The food is pretty solid. The only thing I didn’t really care for is the fish entree.
The outdoor dining set up is very nice. Very cozy and beautiful!
The food is always great here. Appetizers were the stars. Main courses were good. For the prices the service was off. Maybe a bad night but still delicious food.
The restaurant is very small and quaint!! Perfect for a romantic night.. they are extremely accommodating in terms of us moving our reservation around and willing to make the necessary changes if we didn’t like any..
The food was exquisite!! We ordered there $65 sample menu where you get 8 entrees (portion size) and loved every little ounce of the food..

Highly recommend for couples.. would not suggest with little kids as the place is relatively small
They had very little vegetarian options but the options they did have were all very yummy
Frances is a very fine restaurant. The dishes were very good to excellent, but it felt like everything was overly flavored -too many flavors with no simple foods to balance out the experience. Service was very good. The noise level was way too high to have a five star experience
