Prices went up so it's $13.90 for a carne asada plate with tax. Very tasty and you fast cooking time. Waited less than 5 min at 12:00p on Saturday. Their flour tortilla was fantastic. Ordered the 4 carne asada plate.
Went to El Portal for lunch as it was convenient. Menu is large with a number of great sounding offerings. Ordered three tacos, chicken asado, steak asado, and carnitas. All three were great and authentic tasting, aka not tex-mex. Salsa were great tasting and overall portions were on point. Great overall lunch spot with quick service.
California burrito was huge, high quality and delicious. Good quality tortilla. Crispy fries. Generous portions of well seasoned carne asada and fresh guacamole.
Fast, friendly service. Fresh, free chips and salsa bar. Reasonable prices. Recommended!

Love this restaurant, especially the spinach enchiladas, carna asada California burritos, and the garlic shrimp plate. Veggie grilled burrito is really good, don't forget the nopales (cactus) burrito and ask for the FLAN for dessert... delicious

1st time eating here. This casual place really hit the spot. Food was delicious, big portions, good prices. Cashier was nice and informative. Food came out quickly, and neither of us could finish our meal. Also plenty of parking, which is always a plus in my book!
Lived in Clairemont for 2 years and I don’t know why I’ve never been here! Went the other day and it was sooo good! Definitely get the fish burrito next time you go! Much better than the other Mexican food over here, they definitely need a drive through ;)
