The food was wonderful, as was the wine. But what REALLY made Fishmonger's Market good in my opinion was the people. From walking in, we were greeted by the guy at the fish counter, then the manager, then the owner, then the server, all of whom seemed genuinely welcoming and wanting us to have a great experience. Which we did. It really made for a very special evening - friendly service is common, but superior service like this is rare.
Outstanding service and the food was amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wishing to have a gourmet meal in a upscale atmosphere.
Fishmonger’s Market did a great job utilizing a shared building with 57 degrees. The outdoor patio offers fresh air and fire to keep warm on chilly days. The fish was fresh, the service friendly and the vibes perfect for a date. I was worried about trying the grilled octopus with wasabi greens but the server reassured us that the heat was just enough to bring out the flavors. He was right. I highly recommend the octopus. The scallops were cooked to perfection.
Hands down best seafood restaurant in San Diego!!!! Frankie The Bull is the head chef and this place is also a market.
great food... reasonably priced... free parking... the roasted oysters and lobster mac are off the charts
We have only been here once but will absolutely be returning. I've gotta say... The service was great, the wine was good and priced Right! We had probably the best shrimp cocktail of my life and that's saying a lot. Price was better than alright for the presentation, quality and service.
We just had our first visit for a couple glasses of wine and three amazing crudo dishes... So fresh, beautifully prepared and delicious. We were lucky enough to meet both owners and enjoy conversation with both. We are looking forward to future visits and sharing this special place with friends.
Food was delicious and nicely portioned though slightly overpriced for the size. Ahi poke was extremely good and fresh. Ok but slightly overpriced wine selection. Service was fine and friendly if a touch slow. Nice outdoor space. Need to figure out a better bathroom setup than having to go through the adjacent bar.
What a great find! Fresh seafood, friendly people, beautiful decor. David was so great and introduced us to crudo we never would have thought to order and loved it! A must stop on our next visit to San Diego! We went for lunch on a Tuesday and it quiet- we sat at the bar and it was great!
Visiting from out of town. The owner and staff were warm, wine was perfect, and food was amazing. We took the suggestions of the the waiter and couldn’t have been more pleased. Thank you, Fishmonger for an amazing evening with my family!
Ended up here on a whim and man oh man am I glad we did!! Service and Food were AMAZING!! 1000% recommend the baked oysters. I don't care for raw oysters and was scared to try them but ohhhh they are the BEST thing ever!!
Had a great time. Joey, bartender, kept things going and had excellent recommendations. Had grilled octopus, very good, and clams with kennel sausage, again excellent, and paired well with Elysian IPA beer, not really hoppy.
