The food is great. But what makes it special is the staff. Always helpful ,polite and happy. Eric,Junior and the rest of them. Very popular, and just moved into a larger space two doors down. Suggestions? for breakfast order machaca con huevos, lunch, the California burrito. They will customize your order to how you like it. Not fancy, but warm and friendly. They will cater food also. Always dependable quality.
One of the best restaurants. If u like good authenticated Mexican food, good prices, and lots of variety for all eaters. Then, try Jalapenos! located in SD caramel mountain RD shopping center. You will be glad u went to eat there.
Nice place, but some issues. I went for the first time. I liked their al pastor taco special & the rice & beans were good, but I would have paid a little more for a 2nd taco. The chips were cold & greasy. Also, we ordered a burrito with white meat only but the one we got was a mix of white & dark meat. Also, they charge $.50 for using a charge card under $10- not cool at an inexpensive place where most items are under $10!
Surprised its not at 100% likes. The food is amazing! I recommend the carne asada burrito or the California burrito. What makes this place amazing is the taste of each individual item. The carne is amazing by itself. The guac is delicious by itself. Even the tortillas are great. Put them together and you have a perfect blend of the best mexican food. Go here. Its great!
Best Mexican Food in Carmel Mountain / RB. Maybe even SD. Authentic and delicious. I've had Mexican food in many places in SD and Jalapenos is off the hook.
One of the best Mexican cafes EVER!!. Though I no longer live in San Diego , Jalapenos continues to be The Best in the West, IMHO. Great value - great food - friendly service. It's one of my first stops whenever I return to San Diego. I've been a very satisfied customer since 1995 and hope they never close the doors to this wonderful Mexican restaurant!

Greatness!!! Absalutly delicious and nothing else compares to it. I work there and it's the best job the atmosphere is really good an the food is amazing. Ask for ur burritos a la diabla
This is just about the best Mexican food you can get. I eat there once a week and never get sick of it. Everyone I know loves the food as well. Next time you order try a quesidilla with beans inside it's like a burrito but way better. Depending on who is at the register they may know it by a "flat burrito" so try that for sure sometime.
It's been 3 years since I've been here, since moving out of state. When I came back to visit, I had to have Jalepnos. I used to be a regular. Since then, it's moved 2 doors down into old Mike's BBQ and is bigger. It also has ice cold draft iPA now! Carne asada is good as ever and chicken rolled tacos are hard to beat. Better than I remember! Recommend for sure.
So good. I love the flautas they are meaty and topped with lots of goodies. The staff is always nice. If you dine I. They give you chip and you can get salsa for the salsa bar.
I am a regular at Jalapeños, typically getting takeout two times a week. The Mexican food is really good and reasonably priced. The restaurant was entirely refurbished about two years ago with nice murals, large TVs for watching games, and overall nice decor. Staff is very friendly and recognize repeat customers.
It's always so good to come here! Not only is the food great, but those guys keep the place in great shape, and they are always so welcoming.
First time visiting. Went because I was craving margaritas and shrimp fajitas. Unfortunately they don’t serve any kind of margaritas. They only offer few beer on tap and bottled beers which was very disappointing. Their fajitas was good and so was the shrimp taco. Food was good, customer service was also good. Very spacious and good atmosphere to bring little kids.
This isn't the best Mexican Food Restaurant in San Diego, but it is absolutely the best in this area. I have been coming here for many years, and the food is always very good. The family that runs it are always very friendly too.
Robs food is really good. I got the Mexican breakfast burrito with chorizo instead of bacon and it was really good. Wifey got the huevos rancheros which was also good. The potatoes and beans are yummy. The salsa was also very good. Also, the customer service was excellent!
The best place i found for shrimp cocktail. Shrimp tostada the best. America !! was friendly, great costumer service. My friend had Carne, rice, beans. Great food and service. Thank you. The best.
One of my favorite places. I don't go to San Diego without stopping there to have a carne asado taco, shrimp taco and a Corona. Amazing quality and great salsa too.
Loved chicken taco and Portion of the food is fairly big. Prices are very reasonable.
