This was always the go to place when I was a local and now I always come here when in town visiting friends or doing business. Great atmosphere and food is awesome! Highly recommend if in SD.
We were visiting from San Antonio. This was some of the best Mexican food we have ever had. The mango margarita was awesome. Thanks to our great waitress, Gabriella.
Really enjoyable experience. Usually, hard to find good chicken fajitas, but these were awesome. Lots of green and red peppers, onions, chicken and other essential items. Good bean dip and hot sauce for tortilla chips. Good selection of beer and margaritas. Sat immediately and excellent service. Food came out in less than 10 minutes. Only objection was a 4% additional charge for "increased costs" added to check. They should just increase their prices. Would definitely be back next time in Old Town.
Delicious and cozy! We sat right next to the fireplace, but the whole restaurant had a cozy feel to it. The food was amazing, with very large portions, and the staff were great! Even the kids' meals had a lot of food. We ordered the Barra Barra burrito, chile relleno, chicken mole, and the kids salad and cheese enchilada.
Always a pleasure to visit when in Old Town 😀 My son loves their bean dip and the bean/rice plate. Treated the hubby to their famous Seafood Paella 🥘 😋 It was delicious and a must try. I ordered my usual - Taco (fish), chicken 🫔 and Enchilada (shrimp) 🤪 No Margarita this time, but I will next time! Enjoy 😁
Great Mexican restaurant located at the center of Old Town. It has indoor and outdoor seating that is nestled in the central location of Old Town. The outdoor seating has a great view into the Old Town courtyard. The service is always amazing. They ensure you are served and that your food is always hot and ready. The wait staff speaks both English and Spanish. The chips with the bean dip and salsa are such a unique touch you can only get here. On this visit I got the salmon ceviche with the mango salsa. It was a deliciously curated portion. I recommend it for both kids and adults. It's a nice sit-down place for a date or a family outing. I will be back.
Gabriela, your smile and professionalism made our lunch a special moment. The dishes are abundant and very very tasty. I recommend this five stars place!!
I'm pleased we chose this place to try Mexican cuisine.
Tastes so good, large portions and the drinks are also fun. I chose Barra Barra sampler, to try a bit of everything!
I had a great dining experience for my first time here. The food was delicious, I loved it here. My friend and I were seated quickly, salsa and chips were served, and our meals were served shortly after that. I enjoyed everything I ordered, the flour tortillas were amazing my whole meal was perfect. The dessert was the best part, warm chocolate covered churros with filling, thoroughly enjoyed. Atmosphere was warm and inviting, the host and waitress were very friendly and checked on us for any needs, she was fast and a great server. I definitely recommend Barra Barra if you come to old town, you won’t regret it.
Barra Barra is a great spot to eat in Old Town San Diego. There is such a variety of appetizers and entrees to choose from. The food is made with distinct flavors of Mexican cuisine, with wholesome ingredients. I liked the outdoor dining options but decided to dine inside. This place is family owned and the service was great. The server/bartender Robert was very nice.
The food was great. Service started great and ended not so well. Overall was an OK experience. I'd definitely try it again. Carne asada tacos in the pic.
Food was perfect, served hot and tasty. Service was great and the atmosphere was inviting. Definitely recommend if you are visiting Old Town San Diego.
