Absolutely love this place. The food is fantastic every time, and this visit we had the good fortune to sit at the bar and be served by Cheyenne. She makes a mean drink and is witty and fun to talk to, everything you could want out of a bartender. Don't miss the burrata caprese for your appetizer!
I've been coming here for many years now and it's absolutely my favorite Italian restaurant in San Diego. Service is always excellent. I've explored the menu quite a bit and have never had anything I didn't absolutely love, and end up ordering again! If I had to pick a favorite dish, it would probably be the gnocchi cacio e pepe. Give the limoncello cake a try for dessert, or even just a glass of the limoncello itself! Pics are of the carpaccio palmito and ravioli de aragosta. Cannot recommend enough!
Annalisa provided excellent service. The wait staff made sure we were taken care of all night. Loved being outside eating and enjoying the Gaslamp quarter with great food. We enjoyed the squash blossoms as an appetizer and ordered the spaghetti with lobster/mussels and beef/truffle risotto plate that were both delicious. Will definitely be coming back (:
I’m almost positive this is where I ate last week (07/20/23) but I was super duper high and I can’t be 100% sure but the GPS location on my pics puts me roughly here so I’ll have to trust it’s right (and I can’t find my receipt)
First off there’s a good chance I ate like two whole baskets of bread and enough butter for four baskets. I ordered what looks like Lobster Fettuccine with maybe scallops and shrimp thrown in for good measure. It was definitely enough for two people but I was told I not only finished it off but then soaked up whatever remaining gravy was left with the bread so the plate looked like fairly clean. Oh and the pics show I asked for EXTRA Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top!
After all that pasta and bread I of course ordered dessert. If a restaurant has Creme brûlée I have to order it and I sure did - maybe even two (that or I took two pictures of it) I don’t know why they put berries on Creme brûlée but I’m a purist and just want my custard and fired sugar top layer and nothing else. I hate when restaurants put fruit on everything from pancakes to waffles to French toast cuz that fruit flavor soaks into the hot breadstuff and RUINS the pureness of it. I’m sure I either pawned the fruit off to my friends or just threw it under the table so I didn’t have to look at it.
All in all I LOVED the food… couldn’t tell you about the service cuz I don’t remember it but I’m sure they brought me plenty of water or iced tea throughout the meal cuz I’m always thirsty.
Please give this review a big thumbs up if you’ve found it useful… and don’t forget to like my pics and follow my profile if you want to see what other things I’m getting into here and there when I travel!
This old school Italian restaurant was a great choice for dinner before a show at the Balboa Theater. Our reservation time was honored and staff was super friendly and on top of everything. The decor could be updated, but the food was well seasoned. They are not afraid of butter, garlic and a lot of cheese. The martini and wine pours were generous. The crab stuff mushrooms starters were a favorite.
Amazing food, great service especially since we had a large group. They were very accommodating with our kids and we all left very happy. I can't say enough about the short rib special, best Italian meal I've had in awhile!
Came here for dinner. Service is amazing, food was delicious, I just needed to add extra salt. Risotto was not the traditional creamy one, but still good. Tiramisu and Limoncello cake were absolutely delicious 😋
In town for a conference. Being of sicilian descent, first generation, the menu reminded me of my childhood. It was a busy night, so difficult to have a conversation, tables close to each other. Servers were working hard and appreciate all the orders were accurate, but they didn't refill waters, which we all opted for. We had the cheese and meat platter, very good and filling for a table of 4. Portions are big, which is good, and can easily share a plate. I ordered the squd ink pasta, childhood favorite. There was more sauce than I would have preferred, without much texture. The cacio and pep gnocchi had a gummy texture to my taste, as someone who makes my own gnocchi, but could be my taste. The sicilian chicken was excellent. Overall, would return since the pizza looked good walking by. I would try it, maybe a less busy night or try outdoor seating.
Me and my sister enjoyed your dinner and drink at the bar, it was lovely sweetest bartender. I ordered the lobster ravioli ,totally delicious must have if you love seafood. The service is pretty quick and the atmosphere is very mellow .
Had a really wonderful dinner here the other night. They have an extensive wine selection and multiple delicious appetizers and very filling and beautifully presented mains. I had the risotto with the crab and shrimp which was a special. The shrimp were large and tender. They were delicious!
