Pleasantly surprised how ridiculously good this BBQ was. The brisket and ribs were super tender. And the loaded cornbread with brisket was so good and sinful. I need to run an extra 30 minutes after eating that! Plus the cherry cobbler was so perfectly warm, sweet and yummy!
Some of the best smoked brisket in the state, which you wouldn't necessarily expect at a grocery store restaurant. Solid 5 stars on the brisket chili as well as their beans and cornbread. The food is ready quickly and I've always had friendly service.
People sleep on this place but I know it to be excellent. I always run by here for the brisket and sausage. I have found that if you buy the El hefe sandwich you get coleslaw almost a full sausage link and a half a pound of brisket or more, plus pickles and onions all on a sandwich for 14 bucks! It's cheaper than getting multiple meats on a plate! They recently started having burnt ends as well which are a tasty option! I really enjoy coming here for their variety of food and tasty sauces. They now have electronic kiosks so you can order ahead while waiting in line. Plus it's right in your local HEB for convenient shopping experience. One of my favorite barbecue joints in town. Highly recommended!
HEB has it all figured out. Skeptical? Let this be your reason to try it out. You won’t be disappointed. Sides are always good. Meats are always good. We have never had a bad meal here. Dine in before you shop, or snag it on your way out as takeout. It’s always a good idea. Burnt ends or lean brisket, doesn’t matter. It’s flavorful and servings are plentiful. This is one of those places, IYKYK. Don’t pass up a True Texas BBQ. They are not located everywhere.

We had a family celebration for my son and future daughter in law, with guests from all over the country and even a friend who flew into San Antonio from Paris , France. The brisket was excellent and tender, the sauce (peppery) was a perfect compliment. Our purchase for 65 guests, with pickles, onions, plates, and long packs of plastic serving ware was included. However after arriving at our destination and unpacking the multiple boxes and bags, we noticed there was no bread included as promised. I want to commend Lily and Rueben the manager on their friendly hospitality and customer service. A call was placed and Rueben, the manager delivered the bread without question to our party destination without. This is exemplary and above and beyond customer service and satisfaction. All of our guests were very complimentary of the True Texas BBQ, the quality and taste of the brisket and the impression of the bread delivery. Thank you TT BBQ! My first choice ! You have a loyal customer!
Yum, yum. Being a amateur smoker myself, I appreciated the juicy, fall-apart texture of the meat. I felt it was slight over prepared with pepper before smoking. The meat would have been great in and of itself. For what would be a small side place if an HEB, this was a great place to go for slow and long smoked meats. I saw after I had order the great big dinosaur beef rib. I can't wait to come back and try that !
was told by a friend to give this place a try. Had a free evening decided to do it. It's attached to a large grocery store here in town HEB.you can smell the barbecue from the parking lot when you got out of your car. Not a long line for a Saturday night.there is inside and outside seating at this location. A large menu to choose from. Unfortunately I wanted sausage and they were already out at 7 p.m. on a Saturday night. Settle for brisket turkey mac and cheese. Both of meats were very tasty, the seasoning on both were very good. You really did not need a knife to cut the meat. A fork was just fine as it fell apart off the fork. I will give this location another try to to sample other items. I recommend this location for you to try for lunch or dinner.
Surprisingly good barbecue! What is not to love about getting a 2 meat plate with 2 sides, onions, pickles, and bread with a cold beer prior to grocery shopping? Lean brisket was tender with great bark. Good sausage as well. The sides were all tasty. We had Mac and cheese, potato salad, collard greens, and green chili cornbread.
Great place to drop by and fill your belly before grocery shopping. Their brisket and beans are so delicious. They have reasonable individual servings, without paying by the pound.
