Amazing ambience, the waiter was awesome let him know we came in to celebrate a special moment for wife! He was very attentive, she was a little chilled from being out in cold viewing homes he turned up the heat, her Carne Asada came out hot with perfect grill lines and prepared to perfection I had the chicken Fajitas were Mouthwatering oh and warm handmade Tortillas were an excellent compliment to my meal the old ways sure bring back Memories of Nana making homemade tortillas! We definitely will be back. Woot woot
Nice atmosphere and okay food. This place was recommended to me for the puffy tacos which were pretty decent. The cheese enchiladas were good but they used processed cheese for everything. American cheese is fine it’s the enchiladas are 6.99 but at these prices, no thanks. The floor tortillas had that nice dense homemade flavor to them. Oh and that big chunk of meat on top of the enchilada was very pink inside.
Food was very good. More than I could eat and prices were very reasonable. Service was very good and fast. I’ll definitely be back.

It's a cool place inside, reminded me of my trips to Mexico, but I'm not Mexican so unsure of how Mexicans would view it.
I thought it was a little pricey, but I think that was the alcohol 🍸.
I would recommend it though... we visit San Antonio frequently, so I'm sure we will be back
You know how there are some restaurants you went to as a kid and when you return as an adult with adult tastes they just don't hold up? El Tipico is not one of those places. Their menu promises to uphold the founder's legacy, and they do a prime job of that. The tortilla chips are still house made, the puffy tacos are still small and tasty, the salsa will still burn your tongue off if you're not careful. I'm pretty sure the chalupa is even better than it was when I was a child. Every time, the food is hot and fresh. Occasionally the service is not on point, but that seems the norm these days. It *is* always friendly.
Atmospheric is always welcoming and friendly. The food is hit or miss. Steaks are usually nice and juicy but tonight they were dry. Enchiladas never disappoint. Bar is also great.
It was Saturday morning, we wanted IHOP but it was too far/expensive. We decided to go to Walmart since we didn’t know what we wanted so my husband just pulls in here. I was in love with the decorations from the moment I walked in, I didn’t know I was guna become attached lol We sat down and the waiter was super nice and he tells us “Did you want to eat here” we look at him and laugh and we’re like “Yeah we’re sitting down” and then he said “We have a buffet and we also have to order off the menu” we look at each other and we were shocked. YA’LL! This place is amazing! By far our favorite spot! The food was delicious. We literally tried everything! Pancakes, Omelettes, eggs, toast, French toast are all made to order how you want. The food is fresh and taste so good! The tortillas are homemade and hot. The beans are homemade refried beans! The huevos rancheros sauce is my favorite!! Btw I love the faucets lol Definitely give them a shot! 😁
Had a special celebration dinner for two. Our waiter was very attentive and on top of things! Food was very good, I had the carne asada dinner, hubby had chicken fajitas. Highly recommend these dishes and the enchiladas:)
This place is a great place to have lunch and dinner.. I will come again and bring family.. we just moved to the neighborhood we always lived downtown. So in my opinion this place can out match "Mi Tierra" any day.. very clean excellent serve and food delicious. I had The Flauta plate 👍👍I'm glad we bumped into this place you get a 5 from me😉
They've never missed, no matter what I've ordered. Admittedly, I mostly order the enchiladas or the Carne guisadas with cheese. But everytime I go there, my companions love their dishes as well! Best Carne guisadas in town!
