Authentic Indian subcontinent Food. At first you will be surprised by the setup of the restaurant......it is not one of those lavish restaurants...... but when u taste the food, u forget about the ambiance .I would say if you want to try authentic Indian subcontinent(indian and pakistani ) food you must go there..
Excellent surprise. My husband surprised me with lunch at STL Halal based on the reviews here, my love of Indian food and the lack of frequency we are able to enjoy it. When we arrived I thought he was lost. This truly is a low key establishment. Having said that the moment we walked in the incredibly friendly owner immediately lit up the room. Everyone was beyond courteous and very warm and engaging. Then the food! Some of the just plain "yummiest" food i have had. I would travel the 1.5 hours from southern Illinois any weekend to regularly enjoy their fresh and tasty cuisine. I hope we have the opportunity to return soon.
Meat & Food. I like the tender meat Halal meat gives. The best meat i can get in St.Louis. Chicken Kabab is awesome.....Good stuff. We tried chicken biryani, vegetarian biryani, vegetarian cutlets, chicken karhi, lentils, beef kabobs, bread and sauce.

Amazing food yet a simple environment friendly service. This is my first review ever I have never written a review for any place good or bad before this, but after eating at this place for the fifth time since moving to Southern IL from Seattle I thought I share my love for food with other's who appreciate good food. Let's get one thing out of the way this is not a fancy place with a romantic ambiance, but their food is cooked fresh and the taste, quality and spice level is amazing.
First time I ate there about 8 months ago I almost drove away, but I am glade I didn't I discovered a place where all they care about is food not what the decor of the restaurant looks like. We had their Naan, Chicken Briyani, beef kofta, beef kababs, and I tell you I was having a party in my mouth from the first bite till the last.
Since moving to southern IL, we been to Devon street in Chicago and ate at Usmania, Sabri Nehari, tahoora and other places, I have never had food that tasted this amazing at any of the places other than at Baba's restaurant. Our most recent visit yesterday we had goat payae, haleem with goat meet, naan, chicken briyani, and did I mention naans and it all was out of this world. Taste of food is consistent, they are always friendly,
We usually go there to pickup meet since its also grocery store, but always end up eating there. If you are looking for place where you could enjoy Indian/Pakistani food this is it, they have setup table and chairs in the separate room now, so they are working on giving this place nicer feel, but honestly I take good food over nicely decorated place any day. Next time you are In St louis you have to stop by and try their food, they are also looking to start buffet, and start serving halwa/puri break fast on weekends.
Chicken Kabab, Food & Meat. One of the best Food place in St.Louis and people are craving for this kind of food in St.Louis. We love Chicken Kabab & Chicken Tandori pieces & food. Meat is fresh and excellent.

Masroor (the owner) took care of us on a Friday with excellent halal gyro sandwich & chicken rolls! Including photos of menu, cricket bats they sell at the store, and grocery.
Taste of Pakistan in far away Missouri. Ordered Chicken Dum Biryani, Seekh Kabab, Chicken roll. The taste was better than major indian restaurants in missouri. The service was good, the owner was friendly. The store has mini pakistani store as well. I would recommend for all desi eaters.

This is my favorite lunch location in town. We go once a week usually on Tuesdays for goat Keema and Thursdays for goat korma. All of the dishes are delicious with tons of good flavor. The owner and family are so friendly. Check out this incredible family owned business - you won't be disappointed.
I just found about this place couple of weeks ago. Been addicted to their food ever since. I’m surprised a lot of people haven’t heard about it. Located in the same plaza as dmv on page. Their home style food is to die for.
We love their buffet. They had goat rib (awesome) and two types of chicken. It is a family-owned restaurant. Very kind people who obviously care about their customers. They told us they have different items on their buffets every day.

ONE YEAR EDIT: we just hosted a lunch at Baba’s and everything was exquisite! Their Dhaba kitchen and channa plaou are a match made in Heaven! Event organization, setup, cleaning, chai, everything was so well taken care of. Wish I could add more stars- but I had already given them five stars, this experience was just the cherry on top!
Amazing customer service and delicious food! I had a dinner catered recently and everyone was raving over the food. We had one tray Pakistani style chicken biryani, goat Karahi, chicken Karahi, and rasmalai for desert. I ordered last minute, two days before the dinner and “uncle” was very kind in helping me set a menu of items that could be made on such short notice.
*most importantly* my family doesn’t always enjoy goat Karahi due to a “gamey” smell, but Stl Halal meats goat has no smell, so it was devoured in minutes!
