Great food...authentic Cajun with a unique take on great cocktails and some terrific new dishes. Well worth the trip if for nothing else, the food and drinks are great. Battling pianos coming soon...great high-end nightclub lighting and ambiance.

I read past reviews and wanted to give my own. Went to the NYE bash there and had a great time. The band was great, the food was awesome, the bar service was a little slow to begin with but got better as the night went on. There was not any interaction with voodoo or priest as advertised though and at the end of the night spent 20 minutes looking for our coats as they were checked but the doorman didn't put the numbers on them like he said he did. Overall good experience but some room for improvements.

So incredibly excited about this place opening!! Downtown has been aching for a place for a while that is meant for the 21 and up crowd with something unique to do!! I got a preview a couple weeks ago and I have to say it's AMAZING

To the people that have complained about Voodoos Halloween Grand Opening; I was there, there WAS street performances unlike Jessica complained about. There were two individuals breathing fire and several people dressed up dancing and a man on stilts. There was also a costume contest, just because you probably got drunk and decided to whine about not winning doesn't mean you actually paid any attention to anything beyond yourself and vapidperspectives. I've been to Voodoo three times. The first was before the grand opening. Prior they had many more staff members but most of them were rude and pretty much just eye candy. The night of the Grand Open they were courteous, very attentive, and the food was great! There IS VIP seating and whomever spoke to the man who said that was not true probably meant that he'd not come early enough to maintain his VIP which there were rules and stipulations on if one reads the fine print. The chairs "from homeless people" were left from Jive and Wail, the prior place that occupied the venue. Secondly, it's a bar, people destroy things and get drunk only to spill drinks and vomit on things. Until one is sure that does not in fact happen, then there's no point in allowing the cesspool that St Louis is, ruin brand new things. From personal experience I've heard how upset the staff has been over the fact that due to using some consultant that one particular community disagrees with and has legal disputes (mind you that has nothing to do with Voodoo and if you think otherwise please revisit the word 'accountability' in the dictionary then repeat the definitions until you do comphrehend that.) and harassed them all to the point they filed restraining orders on the said individual whom has since been using fake names as a cowardly and spiteful attempt of childish insipid behavior to drive off their business. I also asked why they couldn't play hip hop or rap, which is a damn near illegal discrimination against them considering that Lucas Park frequently plays the shittiest music I've ever heard and caters to that sort of clintele yet they weren't allowed to do so via their lease. Which I find nightly exclusive as other businesses play it on Wash Ave. but most said businesses are a chain of the 7 Brothers and their apartment holdings. I guess they get special treatment and exclusive rights to one genre of music? Seems like a crappy thing to do knowing full well that it's boarderline racism. The third time I went to Voodoo it was near empty. Which saddened me greatly, such a thriving and great opportunity to start up something new and authentic (for once as the lady that I spoke too was actually from NOLA!) and not some repetitive garbage imitation of New Orleans food or culture as most places in St. Louis tend to be poor copy cats of one another. The small, greatly humble and very friendly staff that was there the last visit was just as kind and welcoming as the first two. Those of you whom have left bad reviews without reason are probably the same douche that threatened them over that consultant jerk that no one can stand apparently. Ultimately I say shame on St. Louis for turning its back on small business owners and independent ones, not the 'Band of Brothers' that Wash Ave has become. Shame on them for failing Voodoo and giving them the warm welcome they deserve and have fought hard and long to have. For four months I witnessed them go from an empty building with a 'for lease' sign to the spectacular visage it is today and I applaud them for it. It's a homey environment with lots of smiles and laughter, as well as AMAZING cocktails and gumbo! If you get the chance to read this and aren't a total asshat you'll go in on a Friday or Saturday night and turn up with their knowledgeable bar staff and cute girls. You'll go in during the week days for lunch and dinner and taste the spectacular food and forgive nuances that new or training staff are adapting too, ish happens. It's life, and you're never going to be perfect. Yet Voodoo has the perfect atmosphere even if the bar chairs are ugly.

We had a group in town for the past two weeks for work and we got a chance to check out this place one night. Fantastic service, great atmosphere, even better food. This place is the best kept secret in St. Louis!
