Service was very nice. The dining room was nice, but on a cold rainy afternoon the fireplace should be more of a focal point to make it a little more cozier. (Maybe seat folks in tables closer to the fireplace so they are warmer.) Chips & Salsa are great!
Wonderful Mexican choices to make. Food hot and fresh. Try the fried ice cream for dessert. You'll love it !
So, I have lived in St Louis 10 years and have never been to this authentic Mexican restaurant. I have driven past this place numerous times and never stopped until today. I must admit I've been making a horrible mistake not stopping here. The Hacienda Mexican restaurant is a lively, colorful, upbeat, and Beautiful Place. Once we were seated oh, they treated us to their chips and salsa which upon initial haste, had a touch of heat but after I got used to it, I could drink that salsa. I ordered the Hacienda wet burrito with no jalapenos for me, as I do have a very low tolerance for heat. The meat and beans were seasoned exceptionally well and even though there were lots of black olives on the plate, they did not overpower the dish. I made a happy plate of the burrito. For dessert I had the fried ice cream which also was delicious as well. Our server John had a 12 top table in addition to us, but he was absolutely amazing, and his time to our table was always perfect. I would have added photos to this but the food was so good I didn't want to stop to take pictures.
Loved the atmosphere of this place and the outdoor seating. Will definitely go back and enjoy it in a warmer day. Great chips and salsa. There is a salsa and chip bar in the bar area, which I will take advantage of next time I go. Fajitas and chimichanga were good.
Fantastic evening with our group. Food, service, and atmosphere was great, and blessed by live music. Thanks so much, Hacienda for a memorable night!
Chimichanga was good but the ground beef was in massive clumps on the inside that wasn’t cooked evenly. Quesadilla was soggy on the bottom but otherwise good. Really great margaritas, not just all discolored mixer like a lot of places. Great service with a massive outdoor patio and plenty of seating rooms inside.
Although I have been a fairly loyal customer since they started up in a basement store front on Woodson Road, I haven't been there for a while. That being said, my all-time favorite is their tacos. the shredded beef is still excellent and so is the seasoning. I was disappointed, however, in the quantity of the meat serving. Their original salsa, my favorite salsa ever, is as good as ever. Their chips are tasty and plentiful. My wife would order one taco and one enchilada. However, this time, the enchilada was not so good. Thus, the four star food rating. They used to be excellent. The enchilada even looked unappetizing. She even put salsa on it, which she never did before, but that still didn't help.
Definitely one of the top Mexican restaurants in STL county. What their salsa lacks, their queso certainly makes up for. Hacienda is on the pricier end for Mexican food (not nearly as bad as Burro Loco) and the food itself is decent. My only complaint is that the rice and beans should be offered together as one side and the cheese on the beans was inadequate. In my experience, the food here is less greasy than most Mexican spots in the area. I was a fan of the lime they put in the seltzers, it was a nice touch. The service was average the times that we have visited.
The patio is top five restaurant patios in the area and even includes an outdoor 360 degree bar. The inside is quite unique with a large round dining room, a courtyard style room in the middle, and a large bar. The history of the building alone makes this place worth a visit. The property was built in 1861 as a residence and has even hosted Ulysses S. Grant. This place is aesthetically amazing. I suggest grabbing a few drinks on the patio when the weather is nice.
The food was amazing. Great flavor and good portion size. They forgot my appetizer and my fiancé kept getting refills of his beverages. Finally, the third time around, after being skipped, I just asked if I could get a refill. Service is sporadic and not the greatest. It was toasty where we were sitting and the table was dirty/sticky but the price was good & the food that we did get was worth the trip.

The food was fantastic, it is one of the few places where I can get my tamale fix. Drinks were delicious and we staff was very attentive and helpful!
My only issue was that we were plagued with fruit flies once the Margaritas came out. At one point there were 14 on the wall and hovering around our food/faces.
