Excellent little old school diner for breakfast. My parents and I sat at the counter and watched the cook quickly create our meal. We ordered scrambled eggs, western omelette, hash browns, bacon, sourdough toast, waffle that was topped with fresh blueberries, fresh strawberries, and pecans. Food had great flavor, {real eggs and real butter - my love language}! Bacon and hash browns were crispy. The waffle batter was too sweet but still edible. I should've ordered the pancakes like the other patrons. The staff had cute personalities. Counter stools need a foot rail. My parents want to know why they haven't seen Spencer's Grill on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drives, and Dives; .

We have gone to Spencer's for breakfast as often as possible (which isn't nearly enough) over the last 10 years or more when we are in MO. The food is great and the staff is always very pleasant. I highly recommend it!

Love this little local diner, it brings back so many memories from my childhood. Cozy diner atmosphere and delicious comfort food. We ordered the slammer and swapped out toast for their amazing biscuits. There is usually a packed house but food always comes out super fast and cooked to perfection

First time trying this nugget in Kirkwood. Sat at the counter to be apart of the diner vibe. I ordered the #2 which was 2 eggs, meat and toast. I got my eggs scrambled with bacon and I upgraded the toast to a pancake. Everything was delicious. Eggs cooked perfectly. The pancake was hot and fluffy and the bacon was delicious. I sat by the grill area which was fun. I picked up a trick to try when I make pancakes at home. I enjoyed talking with the cooks and others at the counter. Cute and comfortable diner that serves a great breakfast. I’ll be back, for sure!

Great breakfast diner that’s been around since 1947. Got the slinger which is chili covered on top of everything else and it was great. Highly recommend

Nice little old school diner in the heart of Kirkwood. I got the crispy pancakes and hash browns, both of which were delicious. It’s a pretty small building but I went around noon on a Wednesday and there was plenty of seating. They serve Kaldi’s Coffee which I was excited about, but it tasted old and stale. They also only have International Delight coffee creamer, no half and half. But overall, very tasty food, quick service, and a fun atmosphere. Edit (10/31/23): I went back again and ordered the same exact thing. They now have actual half-and-half instead of International Delight creamer (yay!), but the pancakes this time weren’t nearly as good. They didn’t have the crispy edges like what made them so great before – they just tasted like basic pancakes you could get anywhere, unfortunately, so I lowered my review to 4 stars. See my pics to compare them from before. Edit (11/5/23): Brought my wife here for the first time. She got the scrapple and French toast, both of which she really liked. The French toast has a lot of cinnamon, just like she likes. She didn’t like the scrambled eggs since it was folded up like an omelette. I was going to try the pancakes again but I saw someone else’s order and they still didn’t have crispy edges. I got the smashburger. It wasn’t bad but it was thicker than I prefer – not smashed enough. Good flavor though. Overall, we both liked it but I really wish they would fix their pancakes and make them actually crispy again.

Would have been nice if Google Maps knew Spencer's would be closed 9/10 and 9/11. Drove here just to read the sign. 9/24: Finally got a spot to have breakfast. Staff are very accommodating. Food is standard and delicious. Not expensive. Great experience.

Fun atmosphere at this little cafe. Been looking for a low key breakfast cafe since moving to STL area 3 yrs ago. Other breakfast places are chains or too fancy. The service was very laid back, but eventually did what was requested in a pleasant manner. The hash browns are the bomb! The prices are reasonable. The eggs were cooked as ordered. The food was served hot, which is a big plus in my book. The scrapple was good; interesting. The sausage gravy is one of the best I’ve had in the STL region.

If you have ever seen the show, Bob's Burgers, Spencer's Grill = that but breakfast food mostly, but they serve great Burgers too. Everything is great. This is definitely the best diner in the St Louis, and is a place I will continue to visit as much as possible. It's great to be able to see my food being made and all of the care and attention that goes into serving me as a customer by the caring staff. When orders weren't on the grill the guy behind the grill came to help out and talk to customers instead of taking a break a commitment that he cares as much as all the other hardworking staff. I would like to call Spencer's grill a hidden gem, but everybody in the area already knows how great Spencer's grill is and loves to share a happy memory from visiting there.

I’ve been coming for 25+ years and love your breakfast, I just REALLY wish you all were open during your posted hours. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried to come have breakfast over the past year and you all were unexpectedly closed (like today). And oddly enough it always seems to be a Tuesday when your “fryer breaks”. You’re not just running a restaurant, you’re running a local institution and you owe it to your customers, especially your long-term regulars, to be open when you say you’re going to be open. Enough is enough.
