If you haven't been here, you are missing out. The food and drinks are creative and delicious. The atmosphere is fun--including the bus, and the service is amazing, every single time, even though they are pretty much always slammed.

I've been here twice. The food is done very well. The decor is Southwestern and fun to look at. Service is a bit slow. Could be the small kitchen.

Winner! Delicious and bountiful food with Southwestern elements. Friendly and fast service, our waitress was on top of everything. They have a cool bus/bar outside where you can hang out and have a drink while waiting for your table. Lovely experience!

I am not a patient man. I can wait maybe—maybe—30 minutes at a restaurant, but only if it has a bar I can sit at and bitterly nurse a whiskey while eyeballing every slow eating diner in the place. That is why I haven’t posted on Southwest Diner before. Twice I tried to go on the weekend for brunch, and twice I was greeted with a wait of over an hour. Sure, they have a bus outside the restaurant you can wait in, but the last thing I want to do on a Saturday morning is listen to people babble. I just want to shovel food into my face.

Went there about a month ago. Staff was extra nice and helpful! Place was fun and clean. Food was extra delicious. I ordered a BLT and it was super yummy. My friend got a breakfast burrito and it was giant. She said it was delicious.

Quite possibly my favorite brunch spot in all of St. Louis. Very reasonably priced food. They have long lines but you can wait in their special bus in the back which has a bar and coffee inside. Food is surprisingly good quality considering the low price. I would highly suggest their avocado salad special. It's listed as an appetizer but it is easily large enough to be a meal of its own. Can get a little warm inside the restaurant during the summers.

Everything here- Yes. Always go for huevos rancheros and they blow my mind everytime. The biscuits and gravy are spicy and it is the best addition to any classic. If you go on Sat or Sun you will have to wait, but they have a funky little bus you can go buy brunch cocktails on (Bloodies & Mimosas) or have a complementary coffee.

Taste of home. If you are from the desert southwest or simply like the food from the west Texas/New Mexico area and are in St Louis, this is the place to be. Good flavorful Chile make the meals here just spectacular. I only had the green but I am sure the red is just as good and I can't wait for my next time here to try it. If they are busy..........wait it is more than worth it.

Not shabby. This place was a pleasant surprise. We love New Mexican cuisine, as well as American Indian, none of which you can find easily in this part of the county. I am a devotee of Navajo fry bread and sopapillas, and this is as close as they come to the real deal. I ordered the Navajo taco, which would have been better if the dough had been completely done...a bit raw in the middle, and if they had drained the carne adovada..too much grease and juice, which made the dish way to soggy...but that can easily be fixed...the seasoning on the adovada was good, but a bit salty...the green chiles enchiladas were a big hit, and the gazpacho was ok...it was not crunchy and fresh, but mushy as if it was prepared several days before...they have great possibilities here...seems like all the tables were enjoying breakfast though...I would come here again, but I will make sure they drain my meat first...

First time having breakfast here. The restaurant opens at 8am on Sunday and when I arrived at 7:58am there was about 20 people waiting in line for the restaurant to open. I sat at the counter and a nice young woman greeted me with a big smile and a glass of water. I ordered the Medio with my eggs scrambled and their homemade sausage and a biscuit plus a cup of coffee. The restaurant filled quickly. I noticed they were using an ice cream scoop to measure the coffee grounds. That made me smile. If it’s effective go for it. The first thing I noticed was I ordered a lot of food. The Medio also comes with grilled potatoes. Everything was hot which I love. The eggs were cooked perfectly and were fluffy and not wet. The homemade sausage was tasty. There’s a spice in it that lingered on the back portion of my tongue. It was seasoned just right. Their potatoes weren’t oily and seasoned nicely. I saved the biscuit and until I was done eating everything else. The biscuit is different in a good way. It’s not flaky or heavy as traditional biscuits so I think they are purposely making their own version. It was crumbly and lighter so my guess there’s less butter/shortening. It tasted healthier. I received excellent service and I enjoyed the vibe and over hearing other people’s conversations. I really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere.

The food was delicious! I had biscuits and gravy with eggs, my wife ordered Grits on fire. Both meals were delicious! (It’s a bit small inside)

I had a great breakfast at the diner recently. I ordered the Grits on Fire and I quite enjoyed the layers of cheesy grits, Carne Adovada (red chili braised pork shoulder), a nd two over-medium eggs topped with a bit of cheese. There was plenty of very tender pork, the sauce was spicy (but not too much for this sissy), the eggs were perfectly cooked, and overall it was a great dish. I do wish there had been more cheese, but you can’t really go by me, because I would put cheese on cheese. My friend had the Barbacoa Fries (shredded beef on top of some good fries, with guacamole, pico and bit of cheese) - she added extra for sour cream - and she said it was really good. Coffee was just right. We were able to accommodate my friend’s one year old with scrambled eggs and sausage, so he was pretty happy. Cool place, fun decor, clean. There were plenty of tables (and some counter seating) - but they were totally filled by 9:45 on a Monday morning. Our waitress Charli was wonderful - attentive, patient, considerate, understanding that I was meeting my friend that I hadn’t seen in five years…. So, clean place, great service, tasty food that came out fast. I’ll be back! FYI, there is only street parking, but the diner is on a corner, so there are plenty of spots to choose.

If you love the diner atmosphere, and who doesn't, this place is a must-see. I chose to sit on the patio, but you can sidle up to the counter if you want to get the real diner experience. Their menu is pretty expansive and there are an abundance of breakfast and lunch choices. I had the huevos rancheros but it wasn't an easy decision. The bloody mary was nice and spicy, but they also serve Kaldi's coffee. Don't think twice, this is a great stop.

Solid breakfast spot! There was an hour wait on Saturday morning, so make sure you get on the list through Yelp before you show up. Really enjoyed my standard eggs, sausage, potatoes, and pancakes combo. The pancakes are a little cornbread-y and were fabulous! My friend didn’t love the Birds in a Blanket, fun but she wouldn’t reorder. Definitely solid food, leans on the spicy side. Service was great!!

It was my first time there. My bun ordered the biscuits and gravy. I ordered the Carne Adovada and a Bloody Mary. Both were absolutely delicious. Just enough heat to compliment the dish and drink. Everything about our dishes were so delicious. It was the kind of deliciousness that sadness sets in when the food is gone. I was ready to order another Bloody Mary, but our waiter never came back. (It was not that busy... just sayin') As a matter of fact, the staff that gave us the most attention was the waiter/server that appreciated my Japanese Steely Dan t-shirt. Maybe our server was having a bad day, and I can appreciate and understand that. I would have appreciated that second Bloody Mary more.

Best breakfast I ever had. Their homemade breakfast sausage is the best, as is the biscuits and gravy. The spicy scrambled eggs and the home fries were also delicious. Prices very reasonable and the owner and our server were very friendly. Wish I lived near this place.

Ordered pick up this breakfast was delicious and flavorful. It's a different kind of breakfast not your typical meal. I ordered biscuits and gravy with a side of bacon. It was very tasteful I would recommend this plate. My girlfriend ordered the Grits on Fire. She loved it just beware it has a little kick so for you spicy people that want a kick this is a dish for you. Then we ordered the corn meal pancakes little skeptical at first because its corn but highly recommend this dish also. Great little place also has an outdoor patio I saw a Pug in there as I walked by so I'm pretty sure it's dog friendly ! Great Job keep up the great work 👍

Here's the deal! The food was spicy good. This place is worth your time. I've had the food of the Southwest and it took me back to Albuquerque. So get your taste buds ready for the old Southwest. The decor of the restaurant was eye pleasing but yet not overbearing. The staff was friendly and kind and made you feel welcome. Side note it is always a pleasant experience to be in the presence of people who enjoy doing their job and doing what they love to do. It comes out in the service and in the food that is being cooked.

Found this place just passing through. Food is delicious and everything tastes like it’s made from scratch. The breakfast burrito with chorizo and huevos rancheros are excellent!
