Sacramentans are fortunate to have the locally-owned, super-cool Old Soul Coffee Houses as an alternative to the ubiquitous Starbucks. Old Soul has taken up residence in three locations in the midtown and Oak Park neighborhoods, where they roast their coffee themselves and provide a variety of interesting beverages and tasty edibles to their loyal customers. Among these treats are vegan muffins (raspberry bran or flax seed) and chocolate cupcakes with a creamy filling, always guaranteed to brighten up my day. My favorite Old Soul location is the one at 40 Acres in Oak Park. The 40 Acres building is made from old brick, which also comprises the interior walls. The large windows all along the front of the building that face out onto the bustle of Broadway provide plenty of light. The space is large and airy, with a bar set up off to the side where people can gather for a beer or a glass of wine. I can walk there from my house, order an iced tea and a vegan chocolate cupca
Stopped by for lunch on a Friday afternoon. The BLT was good but could have used a more flavorful sauce. It was just the right amount of food for one. The Arnold palmer was fine but needed a little more tart to it. I did however enjoy the ambiance featuring wooden fixtures, seating, and large windows. Lots of people studying or working on computers. A good place to relax for a quick meal or work session. I would stop by in the morning next time as I’ve heard good things about their breakfast sandwiches.
Made a last minute decision to eat here and I’m glad I did. I’ve always heard about Old Soul in lists for the best coffee in Sacramento but was unaware they had such good food too. The Biscuits & Gravy with eggs and bacon were amazing. The gravy wasn’t too salty or greasy, the eggs were seasoned perfectly and the bacon was just crispy enough. The Carnitas Breakfast Sandwich was also really good. The drinks we ordered were a hot Vanilla Latte, iced Mocha and Lavender Lemonade, all were great. There is no doubt I will be back to try more from this place. 4.9/5.
Saw this place across the street from where I was going. The ambience of a corner store will draw you in and the character of the building.
The menu will make you ponder what to get. It's very in and out for clients on the weekend.Counter person was nice. A tad on the pricey side.
The latte I got was yummy and different. Their food looked okay but didn't try.

Calm, clean, and cozy atmosphere. They have good IPAs, and of course, their coffee is excellent!
My favorite coffee shop! The best ambiance! It provided me much comfort during grad school and my exams. I still stop by to read and just get a cup of coffee. I also love eating breakfast here. Excellent natural lighting!
This is my favorite Old Soul, the manager and staff are fantastic. It is truly the Hallmark of a classic coffee house. Not only do they have excellent food and beverage options; including some vegan options, but this staff genuinely cares about its community.
The manger Evan, even took the time to donate to the community and brainstorm some things we could bring up to the GM about having more community events and outreach, specifically with the homeless and disenfranchised.
I love the culture from the staff to customers to even the art on the wall. I met the artist De Souza and the medium he uses is so unique! He told me he specifically chose more affordable pieces to place along with his thousands of dollars pieces, so that everyone can enjoy the beauty in their own home. 🥰🌍
The server was unfriendly and seemed inconvenienced and annoyed when we had the audacity to order coffee. The coffee and scone were good, but she told us that the scone could not be heated because the kitchen was closed. (In fairness, we went there later in the day, around 6:30.) No butter or anything was offered with the scone.
Wonderful coffee, clean, comfortable, unpretentious vibe in Oak Park.
Weekday, late morning, and many of their baked goods were already gone. But, we were happy with what we ordered. Almond croissant. Next time quiche.

Nice cup of coffee. Food was good. Parking was a bit hard to find.
This place has an excellent selection of pastries, prepared breakfast options, and sandwiches. I enjoyed their granola parfait and banana chocolate bread. Their latte had perfect foam and great tasting espresso, which is especially impressive because I ordered the decaf. I hope to visit again next time we are in the area.
