The service, the food, and atmosphere was incredible. I had a delightful wine and the lobster mac n cheese. I also tried as bite of the empress burger and a delightful goat cheese dessert ( I forgot what it was called). Everything was delicious! It didn't seem to loud to me.. It was a bit pricey, but worth it.
Truly awesome. Incredible food, an amazing bottle of wine, the staff was super friendly and the building itself is gorgeous. I had the scallops and gobbled up every particle! I have an issue with corn, so the waiter promptly told me all the substitutions they could do for me. We will definitely be back again!
When it was with it's previous owners I had eaten here several times. The food was always good and the cocktails innovative. This time around we had to fight to get the attention of the many bartenders who were busy chatting among themselves. But the drinks were good and overall it was ok. We do plan on coming back for dinner sometime and I'll update this review.
A hidden gem in a fun location. Beautiful ambiance and the food was delicious. Would go again and highly recommend 💙
Excellent cocktails and venue! The settings ng was underground and felt very cool. The menu changes to match popular movies. The food was good except for it was mostly bread. Get the bone marrow because the whiskey luge is fun
Just had the best Japanese Wagyu steak appetizer I’ve ever had! Empress grilled it perfectly! Each bite was melt in your mouth. Also had their delicious Beef Stroganoff and fresh house made Parker rolls hot out of the oven. Great place to get your steak fix! Always top quality!! Love the intimate feel yet still great for larger groups. And awesome Happy Hour specials!
The service and food were top notch. French dip was melt in your mouth good. Short rib stroganoff was excellent. Meatball appetizers were the best I have ever had. Let's not forget about the delectable Apple crisp dessert. Decadent to say the least.
A beautiful restaurant with delicious entrees and a good wine list. The brick ceiling is nice to look at, but maybe makes it a bit louder than you'd expect. Great presentation, fast service and a great location make it a great choice for pre-show meal
Great food! Had the shared rib plate. So much food! Everything was very good. Ribs were tender with the right amount of sauce, beans were just acidic enough to cut the richness of the ribs. Coleslaw and Mac and cheese were good too! My wifes Fried Gnocchi was really good, but definitely on the rich side of things. The service was excellent as well!(Thanks Heather!) Oh, and the curved brick walls were awesome!!
We enjoyed our meal. Good vegetarian items and shareable meal options. Nice ambiance of course but is a little pricey. You may for quality.
Empress Tavern is the best restaurant in Sacramento at this time. There is a lot of options to choose from. The Rib eye steak is off the hook the Habenero Honey Fried Chicken is unreal.Service is impeccable. Ambiance on point beautiful, romantic and well lit.Go here if you want to experience the Sacramento dining scene at its cool new best.
A little bit of Prohibition-Era charm located underneath the Crest Theater downtown.
Fine meats and buttressed ceilings are the cornerstone of this underground tavern. Ambience is cozy with low lighting and the service is great.
The menu features things like Sweet Onion Braised Short Ribs for 4 and Prime Rib French Dips. They have a short but toothsome dessert menu that features a scrumptious vanilla cheesecake. Wine, cocktails and beer are available for your sipping pleasure.
Figure about 40.00-50.00 per person. A unique experience that's worth a visit or three.
Reservations are a good idea on the weekends because Empress can get pretty packed.
Enjoy!
