Knowledgeable bar staff, great chef and owners who are not only genuinely good people but also passionate about creating an amazing food experience. I can't recommend this place enough. Best fried chicken, biscuits and gravy plate in town! Their bar selection is top notch and as beer geek, I have no problem ordering a tasty beer.

I took my daughter to Magpie for her 25th birthday and we were treated extremely well by all the employees. I do believe the owner greeted us at the door, opened it for us, and explained the entire menu and his rational behind his inexpensive meal pricing. So

We left Magpie and headed to the Hot Italian, we must have sat at HI for over an hour before we realized that we didn't have my daughters bday card with us, which contained a Benjamin Franklin! We frantically ran back to our car in hopes of finding the card inside. Nothing. We ran back to Magpie and the servers immediately recognized us and handed the card to my daughter, Benjamin Franklin and all!
I am definitely coming back to this place and highly recommend it to all you wine and food lovers who are looking for a new place to eat in downtown Sacramento!
The chicken for two is fantastic and accompanied but delicious roasted vegetables. The farm salad is also amazing and fresh, and the carrot cake with the heavy cream cheese filling is the way to end a meal.
The food was amazing. Most of their dishes are naturally gluten free, however they don’t have gluten feee options for their sides (such as chips or crackers). This left me eating hummus and ceviche by the spoon.
The drinks are great. Well crafted cocktails.

First....the cocktails. Incredibly creative and refreshing. Our table tried their Blueberry Mojito, Elderberry Spritz and a craft IPA - all excellent.
Appetizers: Anchovy Toastette, Polpette, homemade chips [chef's kiss] - soooooo good.
Dinner: Rigatoni and New York Steaks. Absolutely perfect! Seriously, this was the best dinner out in a while!
Magpie's menu had so many unique and truly original ideas-I am very impressed. They should have a Michelin star!!!
The entire staff was amazing-you can definitely feel their team spirit and friendly vibe.

My family and I love this restaurant! The food is delicious and fresh! The staff is also always so nice! The chicken for two is amazing and we got a ton of starters to share. Our favorites were the hummus, cheese board, and the homemade onion dip! We will definitely back!

Top to bottom, their menu is really second to none. The highest quality of ingredients executed to perfection every single time.
Over the years, have probably tried just about everything on their menu and can honestly say that I've never once been disappointed.
In the post COVID world of restaurants, they have found a way to maintain their high quality without skimping on portions or inflating their prices.
The place is a gem and our go to a nice meal out in Midtown.
Top notch eats! So good I forgot to take more pictures. I highly suggest the anchovy toast and meatballs! Service was superb and the owner surprised our table this dessert! Great place to take friends or family!
My husband and I came here on Saturday and had an amazing experience. We got the cheese board, beer battered onions (which ended up being my fave) and the pork belly. Everything was DELICIOUS!
This is a super cute place with vegan friendly and gluten-free options in Midtown. We had a really nice dinner here and our server, Carmen, was awesome! We shared the Potatoes and Spicy Peppers, which I highly recommend if you aren't afraid of a little spice. I ordered the Hummus Bowl and it was equally delicious, served with seasonal vegetables and local barley. My unbelievably handsome fiance ordered the Steak Frites, and the steak was cooked beautifully. All around a beautiful meal and I can't wait to go back!
Magpie participants in the program called Dine In where the customers get a full meal-appetizer,entree, and dessert for $45. The food was exquisite. We had house-made hummus with fluffy, toasted bread. This tasted so good and light. The red-leaf salad had a light fresh vinegarette and crushed, toasted quinoa sprinkled in to give it a subtle crunch. The entree was roasted beef and turnips in a wonderful red Bordeaux sauce. And the duck confit with gnocchi was cooked delicately. The flavorful root vegetables were fresh and roasted with olive oil with a slight char around the edges-turnips, squash, spinach, and carrots. And the dessert was an Italian custard topped with blood oranges and toasted walnuts. Great food and good service
One of my fave brunch places! Magpie has fresh, healthy ingredients. Their selection is great! I have loved every single thing I’ve ever had there. Addicted to their house-made granola. Love their avocado toast. Great view of the park and a fun outdoor patio. A must try if you haven’t been there yet! Just talking about it is making me hungry! Can’t wait for Saturday, think I know where I’m gonna be eating breakfast.
Dinners are great too! Their pork tenderloin is melt in your mouth! I typically eat brunch here but I’m sure their dinners are all just as delicious!
