Absolutely the best sushi in the Metro Detroit area!! The freshest and most delicious in the area. Sumo is my weekly tradition for my sushi craving. Love the people and the atmosphere right in downtown Rochester! Doesn't get better than Sumo!!
Grateful this restaurant survived the pandemic shutdowns of 2020! This incredible little sushi dive never fails to deliver. I have taken people here that have sworn off sushi only to make them believers again! The staff is hospitable. The service was attentive. The food is on point. If you've never had sushi, this is a great place to start. They have great descriptions of their mouthwatering rolls. I'm salivating even as I type this review.
Service was exceptional - our waitress was very busy, but she was super friendly. My mom had tempura udon which she liked. I had some sushi and it was very delicious! I’ve been to this place two times - the first time I got their tempura sushi rolls too and they were also very good. It’s a bit pricey, but I think it’s worth the money. Would visit again.

Sumo Sushi is fantastic. Hot Saki is great. The husband had Ludington Bay Summer Fling beer. I love raw sushi 🍣 and the husband loves cooked sushi. Sumo's has a variety of things to order. I've been there many times and they never disappoint us. This last time we ordered the Dragon, the Devil, Heaven, Tiger, Caterpillar, and the Lava. We also ordered roe sushi which the husband wouldn't touch. Everything was super delicious. The staff is attentive and gracious. A good looking staff as well. Very cool atmosphere. Certain times of the day is crowded but if you go on the off times, you'll have less people and more time to relax and enjoy your experience there. If you want to impress your friends or date, this is the place to go. Know the menu! The ones I named here would be your safe bet. All have great flavors. Sumo's salads are good and their vegetable sushi is perfect for peeps that won't eat fish. Yum people. Once you go, you'll always go.
Sushi was so fresh and delicious. Great service and great atmosphere for a date. It was crowded but everything came out on time.
I have been coming to Sumo Sushi for years now. I cannot find sushi that compares to theirs! The environment is clean and inviting. I am always greeted kindly by all of the servers. The Ninja and Rolly Pop are some of my favorite rolls. Don't get me started on their house ginger salad! I love everything about Sumo, from the food to the service. The faces inside are always friendly and the service is phenomenal. I cannot wait to come back.
