Tried this place for a late lunch. Small and nice home feeling. Tried the shrimp egg rolls, was not a fan soggy and oilly. Order the turkey chop meal with Mashed potatoes and Mac n cheese. Turkey chops were tender and the potatoes were well seasoned. Order the fried shrimp as well. They were well season and fried just right. Also had the Shrimp Tea it was good. Will be back to try some other items on the menu.

My usual go to is the wing appetizer, the turkey chops entrée with potato salad, and mash potatoes + gravy...Yes! Double potatoes because why not?!

Food was absolutely AMAZING!!!! Here visiting from Houston and I can say they definitely rival a lot of soul food places there... Catfish was hot and fresh... Turkey chops were extremely tender, and fried cabbage was mouthwatering... Must try this place out. Awesome atmosphere, jazz music playing, and additional parking in the rear... best food I have had in Richmond! Now it's time for a nap... lol
Absolutely delicious! I got one of the basket with fish shrimp crab balls and chicken my goodness! Collards and fries were good too! I spent over $40. More like $20 for each time I eat because it's too much to eat in one setting.
I was surprisingly impressed with Shrimps after my first visit. I stopped by right at noon on a Wednesday soon after they opened for a lunch meeting. The space was smaller than I expected but the atmosphere and service was great. As we waited for our food the place started to come to life with other diners and many to-go orders. Despite it getting busy the server remained attentive.
I ordered the fried crab cakes. They were really good. For sides, I tried the cabbage and mashed potatoes with gravy. Honestly, the sides I tried were okay but not my favorite. Overall, I’d go back to try some other menu items. And if you are a seafood lover I recommend you give them a try too!
Good food, flavorful. Good drinks.. service was amazing from both the waitress and bartender. Will be back.
My fiancé and I wanted to find a good plate to eat last Sunday around the time when everyone is eating after church hours. We came to Shrimps and were immediately greeted seated with a smile! The food was absolutely delicious and came out with almost no wait. As soon as I began to sink my teeth into the fish and shrimp, I couldn’t help but to smile. I would highly recommend eating at this establishment. Great food to dine in and enjoy or to take home for dinner!
I love the food. I always dine in to get the full experience. The catfish dinner with two sides of cabbage is my go to. The owner is so sweet and personable, I love it when she’s there. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu, I’m convinced.
Our first time while visiting from Florida we were greeted by who I believe was the owner. We instantly felt welcomed and at home. The food was good, the service was great. Definitely a place to visit again while I’m here for an extra week.

We stopped in around 4:30pm on Friday evening before a date at an establishment down the street. We never eat dinner that early but the timing wouldn’t have worked out for us after our event. There was one semi large party dining in when we arrived and the establishment is smaller but there was space for us away from that party.
All of our food was delicious! I probably could’ve ate it all in one sitting if I wanted to be gluttonous. The fried chicken Wingettes were seasoned and fried perfectly. As were the house potatoes. Normally I try to get vegetables when I go out to eat but what’s a cheat meal without mac and cheese.
Since we were there during happy hour all of the cocktails were half off (top shelf liquor not included). Both of my jolly ranchers were great. The only reason I’m giving 4/5 stars is because my boyfriend’s liquid marijuana was too sweet and his Long Island was slightly off. They also were out of Jack Daniels which is what I wanted at first. I could see one of the staff making the drinks diligently and tasting so I appreciated the detail but I don’t think they have a bartender.
I could also tell how popular they were based off the number of people ordering take out and grubhub orders. The staff were very nice and accommodating. I always love patronizing black owned businesses and this one was no exception. I felt welcome from the time we arrived until we were thanked when we left. Will definitely visit again when I’m on that side of town.
