This place has clearly the best food of ANY restaurant or store in Richmond. The flavors are authentic, and just plain delicious.
My test of a real chef is her or his ability to make a real Falafel; and this place makes the best that I have had.
Try the ground lamb, the eggplant, and the chickpea dishes, and be sure to try their out-of-this-world baklava.
We love Mesopotamia! To be able to walk into a place and sample the food before you even order is rare, but the owner genuinely wants everyone to taste and love what you get. It's all so delicious that it's hard to choose what to order. The owner is so warm and welcoming and friendly, we have returned multiple times, never to be let down.
Owner is really polite, offer free sampling which I did not ask for. Food are all very fresh, place is not big with a few tables. Plenty parking outside. Price is round 10 per dish.
The lamb and beef kabob with the Bamia side was really good. Hole in the wall place with spartan decor but food is great.
Stopped here on the recommendation of a friend and were not disappointed. The owner was helpful friendly, and gracious - made us feel like we were dining with friends. Good variety of meals and sides - everything we tasted was delicious. Definitely try the shawarma.
If you like authentic Middle Eastern cuisine, this is the place for you. We will certainly be back to try some of the other options!
Family run establishment. The owner made our table of 4 feel like family. We asked him recommendations, and his passion just came through in every dish. We all left feeling as if we'd been honored guests in his home.
At first glance I had my doubts, but I was wrong. This place will blow you away if you are willing to experience a culture totally new. For us, it was amazing.

This food is amazingly delicious!!! Every single thing is homemade and you can tell. They take pride in their cuisine. First timers get a small sample of the sides which I appreciate so much! They are the nicest, most friendly people that makes this place the best I've ever been.
Extremely friendly. Best falafel and hummus in town. All of the sides are great and you can get a sample plate on your first visit. Prices are reasonable for the area and portions served. Indoor and outdoor seating available but primarily designed for take out.
Customer service was outstanding! I received a small little plate of samples of every side for my first time. Owners are welcoming and patient, and very helpful with my diet restrictions. The food was absolutely outstanding! Definitely coming here again.
I liked the food but I expect they give more of the hummus or for that matter any sides. The main food quantity is good. The taste of the food is very nice and authentic. The big downside of the restaurant I felt is that they don’t have drinking water for the customers. If asked for some, they gave us after 10 mins in small plastic cups and the water was not clean. While I liked their food, I was surprised how bad their drinking water was. They don’t have water bottles to purchase even in their freezers.
We also posted a review several months ago from our business Sweet Dream Enterprise. We have continued to purchase food here and just absolutely love it. Umam and his wife always have our food prepared for us when we call ahead. They are so gracious and treat customers, new and continuing, like family. Even our three-year-old it's just about anything from here! We couldn't ask for healthier quick food with outstanding service.
I swung by here last night for a quick dinner with my 4yo daughter. We came on the recommendation of a friend. It was by far the best middle eastern I’ve had in Richmond! The lamb kebab was amazing, we loved the labneh, and the tabbouleh and mdardara. Quick service, and incredibly friendly and generous staff! The owner was just absolutely fantastic!
